Designer tutorial 10/2/04

pay attention flounder....

When your client insists on something, pacify them with some lame version of what they "think" they want. Meantime, step it up a notch and deliver an alternative that exceeds every expectation they may have ever conceived of.

Also, when shadowing, or especially when working with darker tones, if you work during daylight hours, double check your work at night for proper tone and invisibility, regardless of how badass you think your screen is. What you see may not necessarily be what you see.

Also, when you join/mask, make sure your target image is bitmapped (if previously masked) to achieve full transparency and avoid an unnecessary background cut.

Aloha no, a hui hou ka kou.

:)

Rule number 1: if your client doesn't know there might be color shifts on the web, buy his shitty monitor and color card and design for him or educate the client and make everyone happy :)

color shifts are inherent. Any fool knows this.

What does this have to do with the tutorial?

sure, why not? It's on the same level with what people post here as "design work". If anything they just got a college education in this thread compared to the garbage they pass off as "sites".

Drake 10-02-2004 09:05 PM

Amp, did you go to school to learn design or did you just pick it up on your own?

I was schooled by a suave homeless man in the streets of Uettengen while tending his pet monkey's every need as restitution.

It was even more emotionally moving than styrofoam peanut handling school.
