Republicans seek charges against Michael Moore

http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ne...nt_2059748.htm

During several speaking engagements he gave out underwear as a gag gift to students who pledged they would vote for the first time. GOP says that amounts to bribery and violates state election laws and they want charges filed. The Michigan Republican Party has asked four county prosecutors to file charges against him.

Shoehorn! 10-07-2004 05:49 AM

I hate that worthless loudmouth fuck.

KRL 10-07-2004 05:49 AM

The Republicans are out of touch with reality anyway.

Nothing new here. Move on . . . .

jacked 10-07-2004 05:51 AM

how can they charge him for anything he wasn't persuading them to vote for a party he was persuading them to goto the polls to go and vote he wasn't saying heres a pair of underwear vote democrat or he's a cup of soup vote republican he was just saying go vote it was a motivator....

Nicky 10-07-2004 05:52 AM

Moore is fucking great!:Graucho

Paul Markham 10-07-2004 06:17 AM

Is there a guy in the Republican party in charge of Stupid Decisions, because this one is a corker.

Guy gives out panties to voters, charge him.

Moore must really have them rattled. So much for free speech.

Fake Nick 10-07-2004 06:19 AM

can you blame them ? if I was republican I would also do everything possible to annoy Micheal Moore :glugglug

MickeyG 10-07-2004 06:19 AM

i heard the republicans were throwing keg parties in exchange for votes..

jade_dragon 10-07-2004 06:23 AM

Haha, what frat boys won't do for the panties! That will not hold up in court, not without some heavy contributions to the re-election fund anyway. This is no differant than T-shirts, posters or bumperstickers being handed out. Do we know what was written on them if anything (has not taken link)

Bullshit! Moore said that he wanted them to vote for Kerry to help get Bush out of office. Some people shouldn't comment unless they've actually read the news story, unless they just enjoy being pointed out as ignorant.

Danny_C 10-07-2004 06:27 AM

If Moore does go to jail over this, he'll be a martyr (except for the part where you have to die, but same effect)

It's called vote buying, which is a form of bribery and has been illegal for around 200 years.

ShellyCrash 10-07-2004 06:28 AM

Next thing you know they'll be arresting housewives for "cookies for Kerry".
Ha ha.

CET 10-07-2004 06:29 AM

?It?s ironic that Republicans have no problem with allowing assault weapons out on our streets, yet they don?t want to put clean underwear in the hands of our slacker youth,? Moore said.

Can you say "red herring"?

?The Republicans seem more interested in locking me up for trying to encourage people to participate in our democracy than locking up bin Laden for his attacks on our democracy.?

Can you say "non sequitor"?

How about actually answering the charges instead of throwing out distractions and misdirections?

Just watched the trailer, and my opinion is that it's blaitently made by the Republicans and everyone speaking on that trailer is a extremist right wing nutjob.

Do the republicans have a leader? Donald Trump would call their latest idea...a dumb idea, and somebody would get fired.

Any suggestion of charging Mr. Moore with a crime because of his impressive get voters registered efforts.

Michael Moore is a master story telller, whom I admire and respect.

Republicans have simply provided Mr. Moore with another true story to tell.

To charge him in this matter would be the same as trying to use gasoline to put out a fire.

Republicans...This is an easy one. You're Fired!

Republicans don't do that, they just deny the right to vote to " unfavorable " groups or " type" of population. , if not simply fixing the ballot to get you to vote for Patterson when you think you are voting for Gore...

But that is OK.

That's politic....

Every one promises things ( tax cuts, better health care, jobs, access to property , a new lawn mower...) that they can't afford to deliver without bankrupting the country. Quite different from " fixing" the votes....

And this is not the exclusivity of the Americans, it is worldwide. :2 cents:

Republicans are know for their shady actions: WATERGATE !

i guess you're right, politics = misleading everyone possible to get the most votes to put your party in power
both sides do it, but i guess you only mention republicans because you want that drilled into peoples heads when it comes time to vote for bush or kerry.

You gessed wrong.

I mentionned Watergate... Must I also mention liberation of hostages in Iran by Reagan ? or the Contra Affair with Nixon...

Now, aside from the wet messy cum stained bj that Billy got, show me in which way the dems are acting as bad...

Don't kid yourself, this election boils down to elect the best of the worst...
I don't really like Kerry because I think he has no or little balls.... He should blow smoke up Bush ass, but he is not....

But I can't understand how you can send again Bush with his awfull report card, aside from the fack that he lacks intellectual capacities....

In Canada, was the same: elect the least harmfull prime minister ..
