Anyone else see how much $$$ the jailed spammer made?
"Prosecutor Russell McGuire said Jaynes from Raleigh, North Carolina, amassed a net wealth of $24 million peddling worthless products to AOL customers."
http://www.thisislondon.com/news/art...0Standard&ct=5 9 years sucks, but considering people have gone to death row for a few hundred bucks.... |
Spam pays, no wonder so many people mail.
|
yep.. when guys are that big in it.. they are stupid as hell to stay in the US.

That conviction is the biggest bunch of shit to ever happen! What a joke.
I could understand for some of the things that he was doing with the spam like collecting the cc numbers, but they convicted him of SPAM! That is one of the things that happens when a company like AOL id based in DC. they lobby, and get anything they want. |
he stops at 10 million, invests in legit ways and never sees prison, he got greedy and his time has come. You can say all you want about how hes gonna "only" server so many years, those years are a LONG time after living like a king. IDIOT
|
he was an idiot. He was mailing with proxies after doing $25mil....

same thing happens to everyone in illegal businesses imagine if drug dealers stopped when they made their first 5-10 million and started legit shit....but they can't do it, cause the money isn't quick enough and they get comfortable |
People here maufacture sell meth and get probation. he gets 9 years for SPAM?
|
this once again proved that you don't have to be smart to earn a lot of money
as its been said already: if he would have been smarter he would have done it differently |
haha...so what he will serve like 3 years for 24 million
where do i sign up? |

There are better legal ways to make millions, and not risk losing it all and years of your life in the process |

camp cupcake gets another inmate
|
he should have stopped after a few million or at least got smarter
|
The Jury wants to give him 9 years. The judge reserves the right to reduce or throw the sentence out completely. We won't know the outcome of that until January.
This guy is going to most likely get time served and a huge ass fine. The judge knows the evidence was weak. |
man the good guys never win
|
I read somewhere that he only sent out 100,000 emails.. LOL
http://techrepublic.com.com/5100-22_...g=feed&subj=tr It's slow to load.. but here's what it says: "Jaynes sent out more than 100,000 such messages over a 30-day period in July and August 2003 in violation of state law, according to the charges. " Geez.. don't people have better things to do with their time and money than prosecute spammers who are basically just online junk mailers.. I mean, do we see Readers digest going to jail? Seriously! |
he sent out millions of emails a day.
and it was for crap that didn't exist. most of it was for get rich quick work from home scams. he went to jail for the get rich quick scams. not the email spam. |
eh ... half of u think spam's ok, but it fucking sucks :feels-hot :feels-hot
