Student jailed for defaming traffic cops on Web
A RUSSIAN student has been jailed for a year for getting revenge on two traffic cops who gave him a ticket.
According to Novye Izvestiya newspaper, the student, only named by the court as Alexi was caught by the two cops and fined 500 rubles for not carrying his driver's licence.
Alexi was so miffed by the fine that during his computer class in the Mordovia State University he downloaded a gay pornographic story from the Internet. He changed the names of the characters to those of the police officers. Then he sent the yarn to another site, which published it.
That could have been the end of the story, but Alexi's version of the story got very popular and it was seen by the deputy prosecutor of Mordovia, who 'accidentally' happened to look at the site and read the story from start to finish, several times (as you do).
Initially the cops were in trouble because the Mordovia Ministry of the Interior started investigating why the pair's personal lives was described in such explicit detail in public. But after chatting to the surprised traffic cops, they turned the case over to the cyber plods who tracked Alexi fairly quickly.
He was charged with insulting the authorities and unlawfully distributing pornographic materials. Alexi admitted the charges and was sent down for a year.
