What is wrong with family members and their computers?
My sister and nieces every single fucking day it's a catastrophy with their system.
I can go in there clean everything up come back tomorrow and find a ton of spyware, new search bars etc and no one can tell me why. I keep telling them only to use mozilla..or firefox....I keep telling them to run adware. One night I reformat my old laptop I gave my oldest niece and within 2 hours...this is no joke I had to reformat again. The registry was just totally fucked. I'm not a computer genius but fuck me...why are they so god damned retarded? |
genetics .. I wouldn't worry about it too much :thumbsup
|
yep so many people seem to end up with those problems.. and yes ask me to sort them out everytime!
|
Thats the problem.. never tell them you know about what to do...
if so youll be asked over every week to fix their shit.. soo annoYING call tech support or somethign :( |
before a week is up it ends up taking like 5-10 minutes just to load the damn thing...and 5-10 minutes to shut down...LOL

it's the SAME thing with my girlfriend's step-sisters and parents
we're like live 24/7 tech support... it was to the point their two Dells were unusable this summer so we fixed them up for them i bet they're all messed up again tho... :( |
Next time you fix up their system you should install a popup blocker. Seems like a lot of computer newbies I know get confused by the popups and just start clicking, which is sometimes how they end up with so much spyware.
I've got a friend that owns a Dodge dealership and Fleetwood RV dealership, smart as a whip and loaded, but he has to call me in at least once every two months to clean his computer up for him. Some people just don't get computers. |
Put spyware blaster in the startup. problem solved.

Don't even get me started on this.
I have about 6 family members and an ex-husband whose online time each month depends solely on how much time I have to go over to their houses, clean their computers, and get them back online. And I'm not joking. I'm honestly to the point where I hope they start putting people in jail for it. To me, spyware is a FAR bigger problem than spam. |
We should be grateful that not everyone is computer savvy. Imagine if every surfer knew where/how to download free porn or hack into a member's area :1orglaugh The kids are getting wiser, the next generation of online adult advertisers isn't going to have it as good as the pioneers.

spyware/trojans/adware gets me free stereo equipment at a local car stereo place here every time they need me to fix their pc :1orglaugh

my family has got pretty good about it all. Just got done working on my girlfriends family's computer though...

you should see my girlfriend's computer....damn..I wonder how she got all those shit in there in such a small ammount of time! |
My husband was the computer person in the house.. none of us knew anything about computers until he taught us..
when hubby passed away, I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to keep my computer running well enough to run my business. but then my 12 yr old boys became interested, and started fooling with their own computers.. they got viruses, and tons of adware, screwed their systems up so bad they were without their computers for months at a time.. I tried to help them but I just didn't know enough about computers to be much help, and I wasn't in a position to pay for them to be in the shop all the time. I bought them books and cds on computer repair and told them to go ahead and try to fix it themselves.. it took a few months of constant formating, and searching for information, but finally they starting learning.. fast They're 14 now and have their own computer business. They do it all themselves, I just help with funding. We have a ton of computer parts in our "computer room" now and they're actually making money fixing other people's computers and building ones from parts they buy online. Kids learn much better than adults do.. if you start them young enough it's possible for them to learn almost anything if they have the interest. Makes me kind of proud that I can look to them to fix my computer now instead of taking it to the shop or asking someone else for help :) |
Great story Tia...pretty cool that they are starting so young.
Maybe the might just be the next Apple. :) |
