Diet Coke withdrawals???
I have been drinking Diet Coke for years, but I decided to quit "cold turkey" yesterday.
Today I started getting these fucked up headaches. Anyone else ever dealt with this? :throwup |

but what you are experiencing may very well be psychological just try not to think about it... |
I went thru that before.
Just slow down on it. Drink 2 less a day than you were used to. Like that for about a week, then go down another 1 or 2 for 1 week or so, and so on. Better than the headaches. Or drink some coffee. That will put the caffeine back in your system. |

caffeine withdraws are a bitch, drink a little coffee, tea or coke or get some cheap over the counter migraine pills at the drugstore, they are usually loaded with caffeine
|
Yeah, I would agree it's the caffeine withdrawal. They are notorious for splitting headaches. Diet Coke has a fair amount, and you could get addicted if you drank a fair amount daily. The "taper" method works well when weening yourself from caffeine. Cold turkey can be a bitch.

I'm not suprised; coke is shit.
|
caffeine is one of the worst addictions that people have no idea they have

I've been thinking about giving up Mt Dew to get rid of the caffeine. I don't drink *that* much of it and I've started drinking several glasses of water each day, as well. It's the headaches that have kept me from ditching it all together.
|
I have a diet coke every day for breakfast
|
Take Excedrin. It will help with small doses of caffeine. :) I haven't been drinking regular coke for a long time now. And man, it's like an addiction. I see it and still want it but I'll order a glass or water with lemon. - sucks - but I still do it.

Headaches will only last for a day or two... happens to me every time.
|
I love diet coke but nothings seems to happen to me like that.

I was drinking 4 sugar-free Red Bull's daily for 2 years. Last summer I decided to try the cold turkey route. It was an absolute disaster. I felt terrible, my head was killing me. That experiment lasted 2 days.
Earlier this year, I once again decided that it was time to cut back. I am now doing 2 instead of 4, and plan on dropping it to 1 next week. Here is what I did: 1) Isolated the times that I was drinking the items. I had 2 for breakfast and 2 for lunch. 2) Determine which of those 4 would be easiest to eliminate and replace with another beverage. I chose lunch, the replacement beverage was a 16 oz glass of water. 3) Focus on drinking only 3 daily for 2 weeks. That was the only goal. If I cheated, I would have to do something really terrible that I absolutely would not want to do. In this case, it was donate money to a particular presidential candidate. That was very good incentive for me and worked like a charm. After about a week, I got used to the water replacement and the 2nd week was not such a big deal. 4) After the 3 can routine became no problem, I reduced to a 2 can routine by simply eliminating one of the morning beverages. I chose not to replace as it wasn't really necessary. The presidential donation penalty was still in place. I am now doing 2 daily instead of 4 and drinking an additional 16 oz of water daily. Very beneficial all around. |

yea id just lower the amount you're drinking, and you might wanna try and replace with juice or something "healthy" sugary in the meantime

Plus the cravings come from the gut microbiome, most junk foods feed that bad gut microbiome which is something you don't want considering your gut microbiome contributes to a big % of your immune health. Do a bit of research on Organic Kefir Grains, which are a great healthy replacement for all fizzy drinks. It's also worth buying a quality pro biotic like VLS #3 |
Long abandoned Cola

Nope but I heard about it:(

way to go! proud!

This is a caffeine issue, nothing more. if he drank 6 coffees a day it would be the same issue if not worse. I generally have one coffee a day tops, but I have stopped completely for the last few months. I'm a bit sensitive to caffeine myself so doesn't take much to keep me up all night. If you were drinking a lot ease off it instead and you will be fine, whatever you do don't replace it with sugar. |
I drink a lot of Diet Coke, too. If you take it away, I'll kill someone... :upsidedow
It's $2 for a 12 pack of Kroger brand, though, so it's not too bad. Few cents a day. |
