Great White Shark Kills Woman Off South African Coast

candyflip 11-15-2004 01:41 PM

I love Great White Sharks. I plan to dive right in and swim with them one day. :Graucho

axelcat 11-15-2004 01:42 PM

very scary

Bansheelinks 11-15-2004 01:42 PM

the one reported on in the story, the man eater, or rather, the woman eater, is as big as the shark in "Jaws"

webmaster x 11-15-2004 01:43 PM

the shark was 18 ft long. damn that was scary.

Jakke PNG 11-15-2004 01:44 PM

Kings of the sea. I wouldn't want to be in their domain when they're hungry.

Lucy 11-15-2004 01:45 PM

That's just horrible, poor woman!:(

That's why when I swim at the ocean, I don't swim far.....:glugglug

ShellyCrash 11-15-2004 01:45 PM

I hate when the AP posts this stuff w/o pictures!

Rinaldo 11-15-2004 01:48 PM

that would suck

Tim 11-15-2004 01:51 PM

"estimated to be at least 18 feet long attacked and presumably killed an elderly South African woman"

"About 15 people witnessed the attack. "

Doesn't compute!

SykkBoy 11-15-2004 01:52 PM

You shouldn't swim in the ocean at all. When you do you are nothing more than one big piece of shark food!!

Bigwilly 11-15-2004 02:08 PM

Most definitely. Cage dive first. Then we'll have to wait and see how the latest and greatest repellants work.

They've got one that sends of an electric signal around your body that irritates the sharks to no end, so they don't bother getting too close.

Lol, I just had to reply because your post was so off the mark.

1) The woman was 77 years old, time to go. That was a bit rude, I know.. but better her than some 15 year old kid.

2) I saw a documentary about a fisherman who lost his leg to a shark while waist deep in water.

So.. unless you don't plan to go deeper than kneedeep you're potential sharkfood.

..then again, you have a bigger chance of dying from medusas or being swept away by currents than from a shark.
