im not sure what to think about this. if you factor in the news spin, he might of been justified. if what they say is exactly what happened, may he rott in jail for life.

I saw the video on ABC. Fucking dudes are CLEARLY BLEEDING to death on the floor. marien just walks up to the guy and says "He's fucking faking being dead!" and then shoot him and then says "Well he's dead now". Reporter tells him that that dude had been ther for 2 days and was injured then. All the solider can say is ooops, basically.

Did you see the vid? The guy definitely wasn't a threat at all, he pretty much got executed.


What many people seem to be forgetting, though, is that the soldiers over there are risking their lives, are pumped up with adrenaline, many of them are scared shitless... so it's only natural that shit like this happens. There are no "clean wars".

Latest I heard is that the marine that did it was wounded yesterday, and returned to fighting again today. I don't condone it happening, but when you have young men and women armed to the teeth in a warzone fighting for their lives most of the time, I can see how it does happen.

im not excusing him, i just dont know all the facts. ive heard of dying fighters pulling pins on grenades and what not, but if he was playing dead, ie not moving, it doesnt appear he posed any threat and the redneck marine who thinks he's playing quake needs to goto jail for along time

I think being on camera he wanted to be Johnny Hero. I don't seeing any of the other Marines taking such action. Yeah dying guys sometimes rig themselves, but you don't assume that and shoot first and ask questions later.

If the "insurgents" are using their dead fellows' bodies as booby traps then they're going to be risking that this exact thing happens.

This kid did jump the gun and they need to re-evaulate their protocol when these situations arise, but that's easier said than done in the middle of an offensive, especially in combat like this.

The group of soldiers that left the wounded there could have left a marker or something.

It's not an easy situation to simplify no matter how simple the video makes it out to be.

We had to train on tactics such as - If you go to a school yard and all the kids are playing and one 10 year old points a gun at us we have to kill all the children- you think killing an injured man is fucked up... imaigne comeing home and being tortured for teh rest of yoru life because you had to fire on 117 innocent children because one of them happened to hold a small weapon. War sucks...

This never happened to me, it happened to one of my Sergeants in SF and he told me what he had to do.

I watched a longer cut of the Video on the news last night, and it appeared to show vast confusion on the part of the unit they followed, it started out with them not knowing other Marines were already in the building (them shouting 'who's in there?', 'we're coming in') then another group of marines telling the same Marines they nearly got shot by a Tank, then when they entered the building several questions got asked one of which was about the "Insurgents" being shot and if I remember correctly one of them said 'Yes' then another asked if they (the wounded) were unarmed to which I did not hear a reply.
The broader view I got of that was that the Unit was already confused, they entered the building thinking the wounded had just been shot, and had yet not been checked for weapons. I am hoping this is a case of 'the fog of war' and not execution of unarmed combatants by the U.S Military (we can hope right?)

I love just how everyone jumps to conclusions about this marine.

How about putting out all the facts on the table and place yourself in that situation

Fact 1) Marine in question had a close call with his own life sustaining injuries.

Fact 2) Two days prior a marine was killed becasue the enemy had boobie trapped their own "so called dead"

Fact 3) This is a fucking war. Name of the game is kill or be killed. There are no fucking second chances in this game as some of you would like to believe.

Exactly. This is what happened when the cameras were rolling but it looked as usual business to the marines. When cameras were not rolling probably a lot worse things were going on.
The US still doesn't allow humanitarian aid to get through to the civilians and from eye witness reports and recently fled civilians the situation in Falluya is a big disaster with many children dying.
