Can Money Buy Happiness, What Do You Think?

I think Fuck Yea having a shit load of cash would make a whole lot of my worries go down the drain, but then again, having a lot (and Im talkiing like 100's of millions) of money could present new problems. What do you think?

KingAsher 11-16-2004 01:12 PM

It really depends. I know a few people who have tons of cash but little happiness. On the other hand I know others who literally live from paycheck to paycheck and are the happiest people I've ever seen. So I guess it really depends.

material happiness yes.. but emotional and spirtual happines no.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but is sure can buy the things that make you happy!

garett 11-16-2004 02:18 PM

I remember reading somewhere about a study a couple years back that found that people who made below $50k USD / year (and living in the US) could see definite improvements in their overall 'emotional well being' by increasing their income. But after $50k the effect disappears and people no longer benefit, emotionally, from having more money.

I'm sure since then inflation and social issues will have most definitely caused the $50k mark to rise.

Edit: my general opinion is that money can not buy happiness, but a lack of money can certainly contribute to unhappiness.

Money can't buy complete happines, but at least they are big part of it :2 cents:

Money is a TOOL and not a way of life.

mrthumbs 11-16-2004 02:55 PM

money can buy you the time and space and tools to gain emotional and spiritual happiness.

So money doesnt make you happy but it sure helps ;)

Yes of course, you pay people to deal with your problems.

Having a lot of money is a good platform for happiness, but there's more to it than just the cash.

messiah1 11-16-2004 03:40 PM

Yeah in the short run but in the long run no not really.:(

axelcat 11-16-2004 03:53 PM

money solves a lot of problems but may cause a lot of new problems so either way you are still fucked

Nydahl 11-16-2004 03:57 PM

I am not sure about being happy but money can defenitevly buy you freedom.Thats for sure

DomBuyer 11-16-2004 03:58 PM

Having money means you have more time (and food) to consider such lofty questions as "Can money buy happiness?"
