Why do Old washed up Boxers keep attempting comebacks ???
Looks Like Holyfield, is the latest in the long line of has beens (unfortunate but true) attempting a comeback . He had his license suspended after this latest fiasco. Is it the money ? trying to recapture youth ? what ????

Money.

$20 million a fight and I'd comeback 10 times
|
they earn about as much with one fight that you make in one year, and I know you make dough :)
so it isn't all that hard to figure out :) |
I think it's for the love of the game.
|
Holyfield has lost 7 out of his last 9.

I dont know, but in Holyfields case it is just sad. A once great champion, being beaten by fighters who couldnt hold his jock in his prime.

It's all about money my friend

Money. :thumbsup

You're always the last to realize that you're finished. Just look at Jerry Rice. Plus, boxers always look up to Foreman as an example. The problem is that Foreman was 1) a freak of nature 2) he spent 10 years outside the ring (77-87), not getting the crap beat out of him every few months 3) he was the biggest puncher of his era, and power is the last thing to leave a boxer, which meant he could still knock guys out in his 40's, and 4) he had the best chin in the business.
If Holyfield fights a few more times, he'll end up like Ali. His speech is already slurred, his reflexes are gone, and he's one punch away from his deathbed. |
Im willing to bet that he wins his next fight..
The guy loves it when people count em out and then he does something that just blows you away. |
He should do a "if i loose it will be my last fight" match..
people will tune in just to say goodbye to em, thinking it may be the last time to see em in the ring after such a long and productive career.. He should make an event out of it.. Going out with some spark and attention.. I never get these boxing managers and promoters.. They dont know shit when it comes to hype and marketing.. Unreal. Hollyfield is still marketable if only someone who knew how to market in the field of boxing they could make this work. |
I don't think he ever retired, so it's not a comeback. He's still getting paid well and he's greedy, and it's the only thing he knows. He probably just loves to fight.

Well most athletes are told that they are the greatest even when they lose and they believe it and over pay for their posse...

Ok. I just had a blonde moment. I clicked on this link thinking it was about men's underwear. :1orglaugh
I would have to agree though. I think they do it for the money. The fighters, not the underwear. |

i think the most pathetic recent comeback was Riddick Bowe. that guy has oatmeal for a brain, and they still let him fight. i think he won, but still
|
If you are willing and able to get paid the big bucks to be punched in the head as a young man, I think it is hard to accept that that might be an even worse idea as an older man.

Totally true, but I think that is one of those painful givens of the human condition which most people do not want to accept and getting offered a big paycheck to deny something they want to deny anyway . . . well, I don't think it leads to very realistic thinking. |
