I am thinking....for $20k...what's better to get?

JakeR 11-17-2004 10:48 AM

20k won't get you much of a bimmer or a benz

xclusive 11-17-2004 10:49 AM

For 20k You will get a better used Benz...

Dirty F 11-17-2004 10:49 AM

Most adults could care less what other people think they "look like".

gangbangjoe 11-17-2004 10:53 AM

XSV 11-17-2004 10:55 AM

My wife has a loaded 2004 5 series BMW and I must say the car is pretty sweet to drive... definitely more than 20k though.

Lykos 11-17-2004 10:55 AM

I drive and collect VWs. Hardly a status car. :1orglaugh

Nicky 11-17-2004 10:56 AM

BMW all the way man! Buy yourself a 94-95 bmw m3 :thumbsup

Evil Chris 11-17-2004 10:56 AM

20K won't get you a new one unless you know someone... hehe

I prefer MB personally, but I do like both auto makers.

what does it have to do with the thread ?

we're talking about BMWs here.

I said that someone who wants to spend 20k on an old, stripped down BMW or Merc is a paya-wnabee faggot.

A new toyota is 10x better for those money.

Lucy 11-17-2004 11:00 AM

BMW for sure:thumbsup

Extreme Holly 11-17-2004 11:01 AM

bmw...i love my little 3 series convertible :)

So by your logic a brand new $20k Toyota Corolla would be a better ride then say...a 1998 BMW M3 for about the same price?

Sure dude. I can see you're just out to troll today. Spewing nothing but retarded garbage. :1orglaugh

$20k "Stripped Down" Used 1999 BMW M3:

Tough to pick which one I'd choose. :1orglaugh

webmaster x 11-17-2004 11:10 AM

BMW if you ask me.

warlock5 11-17-2004 11:19 AM

Theres plenty of used BMWs and Benz' on Autotrader for around $20k. For 1997-1999 I prefer the look of the BMW over the Benz.

Not yet. Drove one the other night. My buddy was working on one for a friend and I just had to get behind the wheel.

vixm 11-17-2004 11:25 AM

BMW = Brings Me Women

vs.

MERCEDES -Most Eccentric Rich Capitalists Enjoy Driving Expensive Sedans

I'll take the BMW

That is complete BS

You can get a decent MB for 20k that will be way better than a toyato all across the board.

only 48k miles nice condition - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...2 452&rd=1#lg

not too bad either http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...26282 29&rd=1

SkyRunner 11-17-2004 11:30 AM

BMW all the way. Unless you were born before 1940, than a Mercedes might fit as well...

Nydahl 11-17-2004 11:44 AM

go with used 320D - very realaible and cheap car.I also had 1 some time ago

Vitasoy 11-17-2004 11:48 AM

If I were to choose from those two brands, BMW.

Sosa 11-17-2004 11:56 AM

mattter which models you are looking at in that price range. I would say benz but not sure what you could get for 20k

siva350 11-17-2004 11:59 AM

BMW

Theo 11-17-2004 12:01 PM

A friend got the new Golf and it's very nice car, you should consider it. With $20k you can probably get a nice 320i cabrio of 95-97. If you ask me it looks better than the new model.

You're not going to get ANY new Acura for $20k.

If you go with the Honda name, $20k will get you a little Civic or a base model Accord where you'll be rolling up your own windows.

I am pretty sure you can get a new RSX for 20K. Better than driving a used BMW or Mercedes and have people think your rich with big money in the bank.

I agree
Would prefer that too over an old, used BMW or MERCEDES.
The good models for both companies START at 30-40k
if not 50 or 100 ;)

ArkansasDave 11-17-2004 12:49 PM

Porsche

A new RSX costs close to $30k.

Besides...what's wrong with people thinking you're loaded, whether you are or not?

But Porsche is going to cost you

Nismo 11-17-2004 12:53 PM

I'd try to find a late 90's used bmw M3 if I was limited to only $20k. :2 cents:

ArkansasDave 11-17-2004 12:55 PM

BMW and Benz is a toss up for me.
Both great cars:thumbsup

Goatse 11-17-2004 01:00 PM

If you're under 35, go for the BMW. If you're over that age, get the Benz.

Vendot 11-17-2004 01:05 PM

Whats Sportier? Answer = BMW

Whats Sexier? Answer = BMW

Whats More Reliable? Answer = BMW

MB has build quality issues on a lot of their models and the image of MB is more middle class boring older people. BMW is for smart, savvy, streetwise, younger, sporty people. Granted, they are very close in terms of marque and presitigiousness of the brand but I would pick BMW any day.

On your budget though, I would pick neither. On that kind of money I'd rather go for something like a Toyota - they rock and theyre reliable as hell.

Bigwilly 11-17-2004 01:54 PM

20k = buy a 69 mustang rip out the engine tranny, put the sickest engine in it you can find and pimp it out
