Bringing Friends to internext? Good idea or not?

Bringing friends not involved in the adult industry

them to the floor show...?

is it even worth for them to buy tickets

or just bring them along to attend the parties..

internext vegas will be my first show by the way

BVF 11-18-2004 07:41 PM

NO....I was about to bring a female plutonic friend with me this year but fuck that. I don't want to drag her around while she drools over the pornstars. Plus she doesn't have a lot of money so I would have ended up feeding her...

Sly 11-18-2004 07:44 PM

I always bring one of my friends, but for different reasons. I really see no reason to bring a friend though.

lloyd 11-18-2004 07:44 PM

kinda rude i'd say. all the sponsors kick down huge money for those parties, but they are for webmasters, not their friends. :2 cents:

So your saying they wouldn't have fun?

can you explain a bit more?

GTS Mark 11-18-2004 07:45 PM

Not a good idea, your peers will not respect the fact that you are bringing someone in just to drink their free beers and eat their sponsored dinners. Plus the fact is your friend will probably get really bored listening over conversations he/she has no idea about.

If this friend of yours was interested in getting into the industry, well that would be a different story.

DH

MrIzzz 11-18-2004 07:45 PM

not a good idea dude. in all honesty no one really wants to hang out with non-biz people. there will be so much to do anyway, and your friends will most likely feel out of place.

also, i dont think that european lee will allow anyone else at the gay webmaster bash, so you'll have to go solo

They would have plenty of fun, but that isn't the point.

People spend thousands and thousands of dollars on these events to meet people and do business. Imagine if everyone brought a friend because they thought it would be fun. Their would be surfers running around everywhere.

Let me ask you this, if it were a home decorating convention (just pretend you were in the biz), would you be bringing friends?

wes 11-18-2004 08:12 PM

i think im rolling solo. or with my bro.

If its a booming industry and ppl are interested why not..

but i do get your points.. i will think about this thanks ;)

The Heron 11-18-2004 08:42 PM

The only reason to bring a "friend" is if you hire them to haul your drunk ass back to the hotel room and keep you out of trouble. And in my case to fend off all the chicks and carry my money for me.

Rankings 11-18-2004 08:45 PM

why not? better than traveling alone

fl_prn_str 11-18-2004 10:11 PM

Vegas...is the place.....they dont have 2 attend internext.....there are "other" events as well.

im not following you here ;p

BiggleJones 11-19-2004 12:18 PM

No...Internext is already gonna be overpopulated by people that have no business being there in first place.

Tera 11-19-2004 12:20 PM

My rule is I never bring outside friends to industry conventions. For one, they take up your time when your trying to do business, and you always have to watch out for them and make sure they are entertained. And sometimes it can get boring for them, like somebody else said. The showroom floor is not some grand porn place, it's business.

Also they are going to want to go to the parties, and dragging in four friends with you to a sponsored event is not polite. When I am at conventions I only like to worry about myself and fly solo that way I can do whatever I want when I want. Also it prevents wasted time trying to gather together your friends and figure out what they are going to do , what your going to do.

When you meet industry people too, it's best to not be surrounded by non industry people, so you can freely talk business and make your own impression.

Jesus dude, a whole bunch of people just told you NOT to do it...Now you're waiting for some newb to come in here and tell you otherwise so that you can justify bringing your friends?

It looks like you're going to bring your friends regardless of what we think so just go ahead and do it and quit waiting for a validation in here.

No, the above statements really made me think and im not going to bring the 2 friends,

Im considering one friend he has been interested in getting into the biz just wants a more feel of it... so ill have to think about this one..

you dont have to get all pissy about it BVF ... i just want to see some more opinions...

Dawgy 11-19-2004 12:40 PM

im bringing a model or two, they have zero interest in the business, except for getting naked

I bring my girlfriend along with me. SHe actually did more work last year than I did (my hangover was deadly last year). Besides, she is like a walking roladex. She remembers everything about everyone so she comes in handy!!!!

bluedevil 11-19-2004 12:57 PM

will they mack it to all the hot girls and leave you behind ?

Pornweaver 11-19-2004 01:01 PM

:ugone2far

Sarah_Jayne 11-19-2004 01:13 PM

no and if you do you better be prepared to be held responsible for any and everything that they do. To be honest, they will most likely find the floor boring unless they are just there to oogle the booth girls in which case frankly I wouldn't want them there if I was one of the other webmasters.

If they need to see pornstars take them to the fans show later on and leave them out of the biz side of things.

xNetworx 11-19-2004 01:13 PM

Bring as many hot girls as you can!

NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES!NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES! NO DUDES!

Yeah, radioactive fallout is not good for anyone :Graucho

Babagirls 11-19-2004 02:06 PM

definatly not a good idea. its for adult biz people, not for surfers to enjoy all the scattered ass and free booze. :2 cents:

I've had my friend come the last two years, however a little different circumstances. We lived in Vegas and she and her boyfriend flew in just for the show. We had badges from the year before so they used those and walked the show floor, didn't talk to anyone, just checked it out. Then at nighttime, they did their own thing while we were at dinners or parties. Sometimes, they'd join us at the parties. Couple of things .... they were self-sufficient and didn't rely on me, so that was good, also they weren't into the porn aspect, they came for the show and to visit.

However, sometimes it does become a pain in butt because let's say they go to the party, but you don't have enough VIP tickets for them as well, or stupid stuff like that.

Meloman 11-19-2004 02:21 PM

It's best to leave your friends at home. As people have all ready said:

1. Internet porn conventions are giant sausage fests filled with people talking business.... your friends will get bored VERY fast.

2. The industry as a whole is NOT booming like it used to be. Things are tight and people are struggling all over. So bringing in NON biz people to parties to suck down food & drinks is rude and unwanted by the sponsor.

3. It'll slow you down because you'll need to pay too much attention to them instead of making friends and doing biz with industry people.

If you're going to bring anyone then let it only be women. Everyone doesn't mind more women showing up regardless if they're in the biz or not.

Speaking just for me, when I go to these shows I'm there for business and to have some fun with people I do business with. I'm not there to make friends with random non industry folk. So basically when I come across non-industry folk at the shows, I pretty much get up and leave the conversation. I don't want to waste my time talking to anyone that can't benefit me what so ever..... like I said I'm here for biz not random friend making.

So your friend will prolly think I'm an asshole for being rude and cutting the convo short, which therefore makes the time there less fun..... So people like me will automatically make the show not fun for them.

Just my 2 :2 cents:
