would you promote a non .com/.net affiliate program?

Lets say you come up on an affiliate program which doesnt use a .com/.net domain...would you not promote them because of that? even if their sites looked amazing?

Spunky 11-25-2004 07:31 AM

It doesnt matter to me what extension an affiliate program uses or what extension their sites use. If their sites convert, I will send them traffic.

Fake Nick 11-25-2004 08:11 AM

depends, if it focuses on dutch I dont mind using a .NL sponsor :) but if it focuses on English speaking I would only promote a sponsor who uses a .COM

if they use a .blabla for their main program , that would mean the .COM was taken and they probably arent all that original with names and maybe even copycats

so no , I will not be promotin epiccash.ru :1orglaugh :1orglaugh

I think i'll second that - i'd be put off if they didnt have a .com

The process of acquiring the .com is itself a demonstration of seriousness.

Harmon 11-25-2004 08:16 AM

I don't think I would necessarily run away from it, but it would make me a tad skeptical. A good program doesn't need a kick ass domain name. If their sites sell, they sell.

I guess my point is, why bother trying to find that great .cc or .tv domain name when you could just as easily brand the shit out of jumpingbeancash.com

see what I'm saying? :2 cents:

swedguy 11-25-2004 08:17 AM

As long as it's not .ru :)

If they pay you that kind of helps too :winkwink:

fris 11-25-2004 08:21 AM

as long as the sites convert have good promo tools, why not.

I'll have to disagree. :)

A question for those who say no

How many .com's have not paid you/gone out of biz vs a different extension? Not getting paid one day is a risk you run with any affiliate program.

As for whether the program is serious or not, wouldnt the sites/content/promotional tools show you whether they were serious?

Granted there are come countries/extensions like .ru you would want to stay away from but what if it was .ca or an extension of another respected country?
