this has been one of my better months of the year actually...been busy for the last 12 days straight

even had the pleasure of working with dj airek on the latest thing...which was a fucking blast..

I wanna hear how broke some of you designers are cuz your so fucken stupid it hurts.

been doing it for a little while now.. and i'm probably one of a few that have never had a live portfolio... plugged myself.. or shown many people my work.

there are good months... bad months.. really good months... and really bad months... in the end, if you keep the people writing the checks happy, you should come out ok.

This week is awesome sofar, had 2 slow weeks before this one, but that was due to me beeing offline and some personal issues I guess.

i'd say 3-5k is average.

Mostly every next month is a bit better, but there is a top ofcourse in how much you can handle and stuff like that.

Seriously why you want to know, try it yourslef and lets see if you are still doing it next year. It's a tough biz to be in specially with all the outsourcers and dirt cheap designers around ;)

ya, called income statement and balance sheet.

all in all i have just been wondering if i'm above the ave. below. the ave, etc. and where the atypically designer stands....

ESPECIALLY in relation to what our deveopment actually brings in, as far as I am concerned or can tell, the value we provide does not reflect the cash we inherit....

yep. Might be a ton of designers out there, but only a "few" companies that can produce high quality designs :)

Income, balance sheet for public companies.

Private companies, sure the top execs have that info, accountants, etc..

Normal companies never share revenue figures with the public.

indeed, thats why I am glad I have a lot of recurring clients ;)

From what I've seen, people are just getting cheaper and cheaper....and that has done both good and bad for my company.

No feathers messed up here, but it's like asking how much revenue ARS or another company makes in 1 month or 1 yr, no one is going to answer.

Not toot our horn, but I would be willing to bet that webinc.com is in the top '2' for design sales each month or yr.

But who really cares right? :)

Most designers are not even technically a company.

ya, i'd say them and dickmans.

and I def. care. if they are (1) first and foremost providing better service than I can provide, I damn well better be working day and night to get my service levels higher and higher, in terms of both quality and availability, and (2) if they are putting more cash in their pockets at the end of the day, then its more than worthwhile to observe their tactics to consume more market demand.

but if they are an s or c corp, or llc, etc, etc they are a company I suppose :)

I think there are a few more really big ones who are booked solid every month and who don't post on the boards :winkwink:

and I also was wondering more of "Independent Designers" who are totally on their own, but I'm not even really in that category anymore so I guess the thread will just evolve like always heh.

thats exactly what has been rolling around my thoughts. I'm overloaded, so hired, now STILL overloaded, but not making "more" than before...so not really stopped, just paused.... and reconfiguring.

well thats the problem you have as a independant designer, unless you are willing to hire an indian dude or something who can work for you for half the price you will have this problem.

Thats the exact same reason why I teamed up with the adullabel.com guys. To have something recurring and as an addition to my current income. Cause another problem is that when I break my arm and aren't able to work I don't make any money. So I am trying to expand and have that problem covered as much as possible :)

Somewhere in there is probably a good guess...
