Men.com Designs
I know we kid around a lot about it, but for the record I do gladly welcome and invite you guys that have a different vision of how it should look to send me what you think would look better.
If we like what we see and implement it nice $ and a continuing relationship on other domains upcoming. :thumbsup [email protected] |

i still think the design i did for the contest owns them all.
but hey thats just me. :thumbsup |
hm...but didn't you run a contest for it few months ago....? ;-))
It received some very nice entries... BTW if anyone has the url to that thread, please post it here, I would like to take a closer look at some of these designer work |
KRL,
You should shoot an email over to [email protected] :thumbsup You'll get a much better design from them than you would waiting for some of the amateur designers to give you something in a contest. Just a thought. Regards, Lee |

Kevin,
We work with one of the brighest CSS developers in the industry, his work is comparable to Eric Meyer and Douglas Bowman (of wired.com and blogger.com fame). I truly feel your site could benefit from someone with a strong knowledge of usability, standards, and cross-broswer compatibility issues. If you'd like to discuss the matter, and see some example works, please post you contact info here. Please note, this is not a for-proit referral, just something I think you could greatly benefit from. |
If i had a domain like men.com i would make it more upmarket for a gq, esquire style crowd rather than your ordinary american male...
they spend $$$ and usually are busy (eg. business men)... plus you can sell products like aveda, nivea and other toilette/skin care products... one thing i see missing on the page is gadgets... guys like to see the latest pda or cell phone so they can show it off in the next boardroom meeting... |

I personally like my design the best ;)
the content area is a little weak, but you could get some appealing adspace where it says "the bedroom: diveristy is key" for your personals and such. http://www.dreamache.com/mencom/newshowhmmthumb.gif http://www.dreamache.com/mencom/newshow11.gif http://www.dreamache.com/mencom/newshow11thumb.gif http://www.dreamache.com/mencom/newshow1.gif http://www.dreamache.com/mencom/newshow1thumb.gif http://www.dreamache.com/mencom/newshow.gif http://www.dreamache.com/mencom/newshow111thumb.gif http://www.dreamache.com/mencom/newshow111.gif and the navigation would work as such: www.dreamache.com/mencom/html regardless of how you choose to design/redesign the site. it's very important that you hire a designer that is capable of structuring the site in xhtml / css. I've done this with a couple sites so far: www.healthygo.com if you view the source you will see it is structered without tables, and the coding is very minimal. i like mine because it's very clean yet appealing and would be quick to load - oh and because i designed it :) also - if you decide to redesign your site, be SURE to restructure it in such a way that you can easily connect all of your partnership sites together in one central easy to access location. preferably it'd be nice if each of your partnership co-branded sites were designed under the same flow. |

men.com is 'supposed' to be a portal. Portals should be fast loading with minimal flash (or none), and your talking about 2advanced? :1orglaugh moron |

Flash is useless (or as Jakob Nielson says... 99% useless).
It's only good for intros or brief presentations. |

yeah, knowing what I know now - i wouldn't do a navigation in flash for SEO purposes. but the design I posted still can be easily done in normal css/html.

See GoOGLE Index page?
Thats all you need. |
Envisiontext's got what you need.
|
2advanced is really BAD ASS. but yeah, perhaps not the best solution for men.com (due to flash)
|
Galleryseek's designs look pretty clean.

When it comes to web sites everyone has their own likes and dislikes for color, spacing, buttons, flash, backgrounds, fonts, and on and on. There are so many elements and that is why you get such a variety of opinions. The hardest thing so far for me has just been getting everyone on the teams to agree. Its a real challenge. |
