If you could go back in time to change...

something or do something different that would have a more positive impact on your financial life today, what would it be? And why?

Discuss...

LiveDose 12-14-2004 02:27 AM

Would have picked up a lot more single word type in domains... That was a modern day gold rush.

kowntafit 12-14-2004 02:30 AM

Would buy a lotto ticket with the numbers that won.

nofx 12-14-2004 02:31 AM

I would go back in time and punch your mother in the womb when she was pregnant with you so you could not make this thread, then I would hunt down all the other mothers from people that post on GFY and punch them too so I could get all the signups.

good point, but at what age do you get to the point where it's time to stop making those mistakes and start planning for the end result?

I've surely made lots of HUGE mistakes in a short period of time, including but not limited to gambling, over spending, spending on having fun instead of re investing. One of the hardest things is holding on to money once you have it. I'm one of those people who's either flat broke or has an overloaded bank account. There's no medium lol.

So I guess now that I've thought this through a little bit, to clarify what I'm trying to get out of this thread is, if you could go back in time with a small wad of cash what would you do with it then to make your financial situation better now?

fuzebox 12-14-2004 02:56 AM

Would have gotten into this business many, many years sooner.

It's not just about getting into this business sooner. It's about coming in sooner with the right mindset and vision. There are tons of people who got into this business at the start and didn't make a penny. I bet there will be people five years from now saying, "I wish I could have gone back in time only five years, I would have done this!". This industry is so new, we are at the beginning of the internet porn age. Hell, I even think the internet is still at it's infancy. It's been mainstream for what, 10 years? LOTS more fortunes to be made!

Again nothing. The lessons I have learned are far more important then the money I have lost. I have had a biz with 100 employees and I have been bankrupted. If I had never been bankrupted I would have never learned how to have a worst-case-scenario and I would not have appreciated slow raise of income. I would not have learned to put important stuff on paper and I would not have learned that revenge only costs. I could go bank in time and prevent me being bankrupt back then...but I would still have lost the money later on cause I did not have the tools/skills to hold on to the money. So what I am saying here is...go take risks...go fall flat on your face...and then sit back and learn where you went wrong.

Epic bump and interesting thread. If I could go back in time, I'd fix the two biggest mistakes I ever made. 1) Not sell a site that was making me $150/day with 35,000 visitors for $2,000 cash because I saw that as better than keeping it and making $3,000+/mo and 2) not have sold exgfs.com for $100 a few days after registering it.

brassmonkey 07-14-2013 12:21 PM

so many things

Barry-xlovecam 07-14-2013 12:24 PM

Not lose half my shit twice in divorce's.

kane 07-14-2013 12:31 PM

While there are a laundry list of things I could do the main one would be that from 1999-2003ish when making money with galleries and free sites was easy I would work harder. Instead of doing as I did and working part time while fucking off full time, I would bust my ass, start a TGP that I could grow and start a paysite. Work hard promoting my own sites and cash in on them.

Instead I screwed off a lot and had the attitude that I could make a good living working part time. Obviously that changed.

Rochard 07-14-2013 12:34 PM

When I was a kid I spent too much time trying to buy a better car, and not enough time trying to buy a house.

I think about this all the time! The amount of money vs actual work put in back then. In 1999-2003 I think most of my work day consisted of refreshing stats! :1orglaugh

I frequently went an entire month or more without doing any work at all.

I also think about what Pornopat posted, had I put that extra work in and made that extra money I would have lost it all anyways, as I didn't have the discipline to hold on to it.

I had no concept of the true value of a dollar. Never had a job before I started making money online, and once I fell off the gravy train and actually started working for money it hit me pretty hard.

I can handle anything like a G, but when it comes to women, I'm at a loss for words brother.

I think it's pretty accurate to say women/relationships are my biggest fear at this point in my life.
