Boxing in LA is nothing like boxing in Vegas

Unfortunately. Just not the same kind of excitement or hype. At least I put my money on Johnson.

Boxing? Wow :helpme

CybermedAndy 12-18-2004 10:46 PM

If you mean Glencoffe Johnson from the fight tonight with Tarver, then he got a gift from God decision.

Boxing is corrupt wherever its being held.

:2 cents:

Nothing is as corrupt as Vegas boxing

Digipimp 12-18-2004 10:49 PM

Yeah I watched the whole fight and while Johnson put up a good fight he should never have won a decision but that's boxing for you. Look at it this way, Tarver wins, there's no rematch and so there's no money in it anymore. Johnson wins, now there's rematch money and another fight. Judges are bought in boxing a whole lot more than anyone is willing to admit these days.

I keep promising myself to stop watching events due to all the bogus decisions.

Sadly I rarely commit to it.

:(

It was the right decision.

Tarver landed Pitter Patter punches most of the fight and could not keep Johnson off of him.
I am surpised the margin was not bigger for Johnson as he clearly threw harder shots, controlled the Tempo of the fight.

Did you pay attention to the punch stat numbers? Tarver landed more jabs and more power punches and a higher percentage.

I just got back from the fight, had box seats at Staples...Johnson definitely took it! Also saw Charlie Sheen, Ice-T, and Iron Mike Tyson so that was pretty cool as well....

plus the girls who hold the round cards were super hot this time :Graucho

FelixFlow 12-19-2004 03:10 AM

how much were the seats ?

I would love to see you enter www.webmasterboxing.com as a possible fighter ( if you got any game for real) :)

I've seen Tarver fight three times live now, twice in Vegas against Jones Jr and then in LA against Johnson last night. He looked way lighter last night than he did in Vegas either time, and neither fighter looked like they had enough stamina by the end.

However, saying that Tarver was robbed is a bit of a stretch, especially since I did see him get robbed in the first Jones fight that he lost on a split decision.

My real comment about the fight is that LA is nothing like Vegas for a fight, the excitement level, not to mention the dress code, is much more upscale and much more fun.

All in all it was still a good time, and I'd go to Staples again to see a fight, but I finally found something I actually appreciate Vegas for ;)
