Expect Madden Football Games To Suck For A While

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/sport...ory?id=1945691

Well, EA just locked in a deal for exclusive rights to all players and teams for the next 5 years. What a bunch of fucking pansies. They were getting their asses kicked by Sega with their ESPN football, so instead of trying to compete with them and kick it up a notch for next year, they buy the exclusive rights to the players and teams to fuck Sega over and to pretty much hold a monopoly on football gaming. There's not much Sega can do to compete against that, even with a superior game, it won't do anything without the teams and players :(

I guess that you can just keep your Madden 2005 games because the only thing that's gonna change on them in the next 5 years are the player names and stats.

They always sucked IMHO

bignasty 12-25-2004 03:42 PM

Madden football is decent on playstation but has always sucked on the computer anyway.

Sosa 12-25-2004 03:45 PM

madden has been the best console football game for quite some time, if I were them I would have done the exact same thing.

SEGA/ESPN Football rocks... Madden sux

Digipimp 12-25-2004 03:48 PM

that's just smart biz. hopefully they will take just a few of the things espn did right with the game and integrate them for the best game ever. especially since with this deal, they could buy the whole espn's nfl development team for the same price as the game was selling $20

hahahaha

Considering the people that design the Madden games probably enjoy their jobs, I can't really see them just sitting around leaving the game as it is. If only for wanting to express themselves creatively.

I've always chose madden over ESPN's game... my buddy has ESPN, and 99% of the time, we play madden instead. :xmas-smil

You call them pussies for buying it? LOL moron.

sean416 12-25-2004 04:06 PM

I always thought Madden was the best. Atleast for PS2 it is. :thumbsup

Did ya notice that I DIDN'T call them stupid, I called them pussies which is exactly what they are. If I called them stupid, then fine, you could call me a moron.

Sure, from a business aspect, that's a really smart move, but why didn't they buy the rights years ago ??? because they didn't have any real competition. You know damn well when people started talking about ESPN being better than Madden and then with their $19.99 price tag on their last football game that it just burned their ass.

Do you think that it's gonna be good having EA as the only company making football games ??? I don't think so. What's gonna push them to be better ??? There's been a few years where they slacked and didn't do much to the game before they had any real competition. I'm fearing it's gonna happen again.

PLUS, you know damn well that their next game is gonna be right back up to the $49.99 mark. Do you think that they're gonna sell it for $19.99 ??? Fuck no.

The NFL was made an offer that they couldn't refuse. They were also kind of ticked off at SEGA SPORTS for cheapening their brand by offering the $20 game.

I'm pissed...I hate Madden. Expect NCAA2K6 to get the NFL2K engine because I don't see anyone buying a Professional Football game that has teams with such names as the "Oakland Pirates" and the "Miami Whales" or maybe the "Denver Horses" LOL

xclusive 12-25-2004 06:19 PM

Wow that sucks oh well i don't have time for games anyways these days...

Slick 12-25-2004 06:52 PM

I guess that one of the biggest thing that pisses me off is that I actually liked Sega ESPN 2K5 better than Madden, I have for the last 2 years. NOW I'm not gonna have a choice, nor will the others out there that feel the same way.

It'd be like if Jupiter Hosting made a deal with all of the Tier 1 providers to ONLY sell bandwith to them, so you had no other choice, but to go through them if you wanted Tier 1 bandwidth. Would that be enjoyable ???

even though nothing much changes in each years madden, theyre still ten times better than the espn games. i bought both the new hockey/football espn games and they were turned off and returned within an hour. theyre not even worth the 20 bucks that they sell for and theyre easily the worst sports games ive ever played.

i like last years madden much better, but this years addition of xbox live makes it likeable.

my personal favorite football/hockey games are made by midway. theyre not serious at all and theyre a hell of a lot more fun to play with pals when youre pregaming before you go to the bar.

all i do is play video games and drink at bars in my spare time, so i know what im talking about game wise.

the espn games controls/gameplay are very poor.

Madden is the best and always will be.
