76.000 dead in Asia. So?

... how many dies every fucking day in Africa STARVING, thirsty, of AIDS?! And what do we do? NOTHING.

But now... with 24 hours on cnn with the disaster, everybody goes WOW... SHIT... THAT SO FUCKING BAD... And everybody gets their eyes up.
The armies sends specialists. Red Cross had tons of stuff just waiting to be sent. Now they are sending x planes to thailand ++
Where were that stuff and those planes when AIDS killed n people in Africa?

Human mankind sucks.

I'm not giving a dime.

dunefield 12-29-2004 11:11 AM

there's a difference when something out of the blue wipes out a shitload of people rather than an everyday occurance...

Well,,,considering men with AIDS in Africa think they can cure themselves by having sex with virgin boys, why should I care abt that?

chodadog 12-29-2004 11:14 AM

You should see what happens to the money and food that gets donated to african countries. You have no idea how high up the corruption in most african nations goes. Africa is beyond help. That shithole is going to need another 50 years at least to sort itself out.

Africa is doomed they are not willing to be helped sending them money is a waste until it can be managed. Aids is something that can be prevented it's called not fucking can't say you can stop a tsunami...

I can't remember which country it was, but i saw something on the news recently. A billboard with a picture of a young girl with the message "Having sex with me won't cure HIV" or something along those lines. I mean, it really is that bad that they have to put that kind of shit up on billboards.

Even babies aren't safe. Infants being raped in Africa is not at all uncommon.

feN 12-29-2004 11:17 AM

You wouldn't say that about 9/11 would you

tungsten 12-29-2004 11:17 AM

natural occurances are different, can't do anything about those..

What would Charles Dickens have said in personna as Ebinezer Scrooge?

Thank goodness that there is still some humanity left in man. As a world we do rise to help in epic tragedy. We are far less motivated by chronic problems like poverty, hunger and disease.

Screaming 12-29-2004 11:18 AM

well we are trying to help there and like someone said there is a difference between something that is been happening and a sudden 100k person killing event

that IS happening already, but africa is so fucked up and so damn corrupt it's an endless circle of shit over there...

Linkster 12-29-2004 11:41 AM

gee - only 100k - thats close to what we probably have done in Iraq to uninvolved civilians and is projected by the end of the US conflict(non military casulties) - guess they just got in the way when the bombs dropped

BTW thats a shitload more than we ever did in Vietnam - guess we're just getting sloppy
Course we can still proudly boast what we did with two bombs in Japan - wiped two whole cities out in one swoop - hell - good ole tax dollars at work

sickkittens 12-29-2004 11:43 AM

There's also a difference when something is as unexpected as this.

Well we made a big deal about 3000 Americans on 9-11. This is over 30 times that amount. 1 in every 1000 Sri lankans have died in this disaster. That would be like 300,00 Americans.

Also on any given day 155,000 people die accross the world. So to have that amount die in one day due ONE event is quite incredible. I imagine that Dec 26, 2004 was the first day since WWII that the popualtion of the earth actually fell.
