Wireless Network Adapter with Cat 5 network cable
Anyone know if a wireless network adapter exists with a cat 5 cable connection?
Let says the wireless adapter connects to your computer by USB and there is a slot on it for a network cable which you can plug into something such as another computer or a vonage phone system. Couldn't find anything on eBay, not sure what the correct keywords would be. Thanks to anyone who can help |
Never heard of such a thing but I have an easy solution for you.
Call Vonage and tell tham that your current MTA device (Probably a Motorola) is a piece of shit and you would like the Linksys adapter. The Linksys adapter is a router with 2 phone lines and a 3 port cat5 switch.. |
I currently have the motorolla vonage system and it has 2 phone lines and a 2 port cat 5 switch. I would need something with a USB connection to solve the problem as the network adapters I have seen plug straight into the computer via a network card or usb. Is there anyway to transfer an internet connection by cat5 cable from a laptop or desktop to another laptop or desktop without the use of a router?

there must be some sort of hardware or network card or usb device that will take the internet connection from one computer and allow another computer to use it's connection without a router via usb or even better, a network cable

I have a wireless card and a regular network card in this computer, wouldnt a setup like that work for you?

A router isn't what I am looking for. Ok let's make a scenaro. I am on at a hotel overseas which sents off a wireless internet signal to all rooms. I connect my wireless adapter to my laptop to pull get this signal. However, I want to connect my vonage broadband phone modem to the connection so that I am not charge $1 a minute on my cell phone calls (if it even works from that country). How do I convert this internet connection into plugging into the phone modem and back using cat5 network cable.. In other words, how can I convert my computer into a router which accepts it's main connection via wireless
|
Depends on the operating system.
Google for "Internet Connection Sharing" |
get a length of cat5 ethernet cable cut off the end reverse the wire pattern and BAM you have a crossover cable now use internet connection sharing in windows and bam you are in business.
