Question of the day : Tsunami victims reported missing. What is going to happen with.
What is going to happen with the families with a "reported missing" person. Because we are talking about thousands and thousands of people reported missing.
When are they going to issue a death certificate? Do they automatically issue one after 6 months? One year? 5 years? Can you imagine the problems with the life insurance, the will, the succession.. I'm pretty sure that the insurance companies will do everything they can to be a pain in the ass about that issue.. "Sorry sir, we don't have the death certificate.." |
yeah the problem with the "missing" figures are that everytime someone rings up the foreign office and asks whether their friend or their child was out there and killed or alive, if they havnt heard anything, another person is counted as missing, even if they werent in that place at that time

If you are referring to missing Americans...I think it may depend upon State law...when a person can be classified as officially dead...and I think this can can vary and ranges up to seven years. A google search probably can supply you with better informed information.
