*Chest discomfort. Most heart attacks involve discomfort in the center of the chest that lasts more than a few minutes, or that goes away and comes back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness or pain.
* Discomfort in other areas of the upper body. Symptoms can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach.
* Shortness of breath. May occur with or without chest discomfort.
* Other signs: These may include breaking out in a cold sweat, nausea or lightheadedness

In most cases, the left arm is where the pain will be. However, you can also feel the pain in your right arm, your neck, and even your jaw. Symptoms of a heart attack also include, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, sweating, and most importantly denial.

sometimes a heart attack will feel like really severe heartburn that wont go away.. my dad sat at home for two days after shoveling rocks out of the drive way..he thought he had bad heartburn.. one week later a quadruple bypass was in order.

sumphatpimp 01-08-2005 07:14 PM

don't worry about it.
just eat another hamburger and fries, you will be fine.

I've had two heart attacks (two days apart - call it the same event if you like - one occurred in CICU).

I didn't have chest discomfort. I had a pain between my shoulder blades in the center of my back. Sweats and then chills, tightness in the jaw?. Joints in my wrists ached also. Thought I had the flu. That was in 1988, I'm still here and typing away on GFY.

Was way to young to almost die of a heart attack. Was chain smoking, drinking hard, no exercise and my diet sucked. The typical life of many webmasters.

Think about it.

Just like in real life... I am fed up with the I'dhitit threads sorry.

pussyluver 01-08-2005 07:48 PM

FYI, I called the ER with symptons and all the nurse said was we're here if you need us. She did NOT see that I was having a heart attack. Guess I didn't use the key words. The next morning I saw a doctor cause I knew something wasn't right. I was feeling a bit better. She (the doctor) - took about a minute figure out that I was going to the hospital NOW!!!

That was a good thing, the event that took place the next day in CICU would have got me for sure. It was a ten day stay in the hospital.

You missed the rest of the thread or didn't read the posts. It is important to know that symptoms of a heart attack can be more than just pain in the left arm! You can have a heart attack without pain in your left arm.

Usually left arm, not really so much as a pain more of a tingling sensation like when your foot falls asleep. Usually in the upper portion of the arm and shoulder.

Best advice, get to the hospital and quick. And I speak from experience. :Oh crap

Luckily I used the "key words". From the time I walked into the emergency room till I was in the emergency surgery getting angioplasty was less than 30-minutes. 5 years later, and I've been fine since learning to "watch" my habits a bit closer. :)

Glad you're still with us and got the attention needed! Did my last cath about a year ago, all was fine. See the doctor about every three months to make sure everything stays ok. Had some major damage from the event. Getting to the ER the night before would have prevented much of the damage. It would have been a shorter stay in the hospital too. Had an external pace maker for awhile. They scheduled the operation three times to place an internal pacemaker and then put it off waithing for me to go rhythmic. Finally got there. I was lucky to have some damn good doctors working on me.
