What's the best...

Virus Protection out there for free? I am on my friend's computer right now and their Mac Afee Virus Scan Online subscription has ran out completely and they aren't running anything right now. They do not have the money to subscribe to anything. Any suggestions please?

Thanks,
Bobbi B.

Cool cool. I appreciate the reply.

I felt bad that they weren't running anything at all because they can't afford it. I definitely know that they can't afford to replace their entire computer if it gets destroyed because they left it open for viruses and stuff. I also installed Microsoft AntiSpyware.

Ugh! Wait... I'm not at home and my cell phone doesn't work over here. Can you leave me a message with your number and I will call you tomorrow?

*full body shudder* I'm not sure if you just helped them or hexed them. But if you want a GOOD anti-spyware util then check out Ad-Aware. They have a completely free version, and it is the best out there. :2 cents:

Nismo 01-08-2005 09:28 PM

Bobbi is hawt.

Wiggles 01-08-2005 09:33 PM

check out trend micro, not sure if it runs of MAC but check it out anyway, top of the free virus scanners out there.

Left you a message - talk soon!

Bobbi Doll 01-08-2005 09:46 PM

Uh oh! Did I just mess up? I just read a bunch of positive posts about this program.

Apparently, Microsoft bought out a company called Giant Software and this is the same anti-spyware program that they used to produce. Ad-Aware was the first program that I downloaded for them, but the Microsoft program was able to find even more spyware than what was found when I scanned with Ad Aware.

Thanks for the Trend Micro suggestion. I poked around at their site but it appears to be a subscription type service. Maybe I am missing something?

Bobbi Doll 01-08-2005 09:59 PM

Thanks! :)

I think you have to pay around 25 bucks or something..the same as Norton or Mcrapafee...still a wise investment

Entropy 01-08-2005 10:14 PM

AVG has been the best free antivirus I've used.
