On my latest club adventures i've been called handsome by a few ladies... I NEVER GET CALLED CUTE OR HOT OR SEXY... Now that got me thinking...

Does handsome in female language mean... "You're cute but i think you're gay?"

you know? I don't think I have ever called a guy handsome to his face. It is the kind of thing I would say about a younger cousin or something in a cheesey way. Though, I don't tend to tell guys I like that they are cute either...hot or sexy are my terms of choice I guess.

I agree with Screaming...handsome is the same as good looking. Just sounds a little more old-fashioned.

It is used when women want to provide a compliment without risking any sort of expression of romantic or sexual interest.

The last time I heard a woman use this word; she was paying an old man a compliment (she was in her 30's).

My guess is that you are a lot older than they were and that she didn?t want you to read anything into her compliment, unless . . . those "ladies" were actually "trannies," then it means they would definitely have sex with you (but not a relationship).

Calling a guy handsome is like saying a girl has a good personality.

This helps to demonstrate my ?tranny? theory. Men just use the word ?handsome? in a different way than women.

Men don?t truly understand the subtleties in the way women use such compliments.

Then, my guess is that the ones who called you "handsome" were trannies. Unless you have a physical issue that you haven't revealed? Do you have all of your limbs? Are you overweight? Can you think of any issue that might have contributed to them using such a "distancing" compliment?
