Anyone Own A Chevy Avalanche

i still haven't made up my mind, what type of work truck to buy

I really like the versatility of the Avalanche.

However I havent heard anything good or bad about them.

Someone got to have the inside scoop

dont see too many of them around, that might be a bad sign

well they are expensive.. I can get a great deal on one
the problem is every double cab pickup i look at only comes with a short bed

The 5.3 is a tad gutless in such a heavy vehicle. If you get the 3/4 ton model you can get the 8.1L, but then you will be spending all your money on gas.

My parent's came with the dreaded piston slap noise during warm up, but supposedly it does no harm to the engine. Nice vehicle, but after driving it, I would get a 1/2 ton extended cab pickup before I would buy an Avalanche myself. Otherwise no complaints, other than some minor trim details that were covered under warranty.

I like the look of them, but I have never driven one. Now Ford has a kick ass model here in Mexico, that I dont think they sell is the states. It is the Lobo, and it looks great. Has beter features than my sport.

Ford F series only way to go. I bought another 02 F-350 Supercab 4x4 with the V10 and it will pull your house outta the ground.

Dont buy a ford if you care about resale.. I like chevy's ergonamics better as well, at least for an american piece anyway.

He stated he needs a work truck, go to a construction site one of these days ALL FORDS. Theres a reason why the Fseries is the best truck for 2.5 decades consecutively

I had an 02 Z66 Avalanche, traded a 96 turbo diesel hummer H1 for it. Very nice truck, was the best riding truck I've ever been in. I ended up trading it 6 months later for a hummer H2 though.

I need a work truck for my rental properties. not for construction
but i also need the crew cab.

a dually wont fit around back in one of the houses as there is a 7 foot width between the house and the retaining wall

extended cab just doesnt have enough leg room

Yep single rear wheel F250 with crew cab and you got more than enough power to pull whatever and all the leg room you want. Im 6'6" and its plenty for me even in the supercab, not to mention a true crewcab.
:2 cents:
