Thank you Dotster for my Free Domains

Just got this mail from Dotster :
Quote:

Congratulations - We've registered the .info version of your .com domains for you - for FREE!
Thanks to our great relationship with the .info registry, we were able to secure the .info version of many of your .com domains absolutely free.

We've added these domain names to your current Dotster account for you to manage in any way you see fit. Rest assured, these names are NOT set to auto-renew. They are yours to use for an entire year with no catch.

Use our FREE URL Forwarding and point the new domain name to your existing website, develop a new site, or sell the domain on EBay. It's yours to do with as you wish.

Remember, these domain names are not set to auto-renew. They are set to expire in one year unless you go into your account and update the auto renew settings.
Was sure when i read the first line that they had started using adult sales tactics and done this in hope that i'd forget to cancel when renewal date came, but no, seems to be just a pretty good promo :)
Looks like the .info registry will do whatever to get those info domains publicly known

Looks like Dotster took a page out of Enom's playbook. In case anyone didn't see the news item, Enom registered about one million (1,000,000) .info domains during the last week or so of September 2004. They undoubtedly did so through the free .INFO promotion at the time, and they registered the .INFO names with the names and contact details of the owners of corresponding .COM domains under Enom's control.

On a side note, Enom did all of this through it's twin company, Sipence.com. Sipence used to be a great place to register domains for $6.95 but now it seems they have adopted the same $29.95 pricing structure Enom has for non-resellers. Too bad. :(

People are throwing Info's away. I believe registerfly are selling them for $1 each at the moment =/

a shame they don't do promo's like that on dot com's :)
Would be nice with a, 'get 24 free .com domains' promo.. now that would be sweet :winkwink:
