Bush's War on Terror a big failure, CIA says

Too bad more than half of the Americans wanted an incompetent fool to run their country...

"Iraq has replaced Afghanistan as the training ground for the next generation of "professionalized" terrorists, according to a report released yesterday by the National Intelligence Council, the CIA director's think tank.

Iraq provides terrorists with "a training ground, a recruitment ground, the opportunity for enhancing technical skills," said David B. Low, the national intelligence officer for transnational threats. "There is even, under the best scenario, over time, the likelihood that some of the jihadists who are not killed there will, in a sense, go home, wherever home is, and will therefore disperse to various other countries."

Low's comments came during a rare briefing by the council on its new report on long-term global trends. It took a year to produce and includes the analysis of 1,000 U.S. and foreign experts. Within the 119-page report is an evaluation of Iraq's new role as a breeding ground for Islamic terrorists.

President Bush has frequently described the Iraq war as an integral part of U.S. efforts to combat terrorism. But the council's report suggests the conflict has also helped terrorists by creating a haven for them in the chaos of war."

Hmm...I have never heard him say the words "Jesus" or "praise the lord". Do you have a link where he can be quoted saying those words?

Would you care to define what you think a Christian "Fudamentalist" is?

I think the point of the 'failure' comment was that Bush said attacking Iraq was the key to combating global terrorism but the CIA is now saying that it's has in fact increased it. These threads get boring, I'm up for critical dialogue but the pro/con Bush arguments are obvious and who ever voted for or against Bush probably aren't going to change their minds. Actually hold on, I don't even know why I'm posting in this thread since I'm Canadian. I would bitch about our shitty government but I don't think it would go over as well...

Yea I guess if it's not spelled out in plain english you just can't figure it out can you? btw have a nice argument because I'm not going to sit here say the same thing across 10 more pages, as it's clear you don't seem to think anything is wrong in Iraq.

The fact is the article does not say the CIA is saying " Bush's War on Terror a big failure". What the article does say is as follows...

Quote:

Iraq has replaced Afghanistan as the training ground for the next generation of "professionalized" terrorists, according to a report released yesterday by the National Intelligence Council, the CIA director's think tank.
and then it expands upon that statement to some extent.

Any war that is on going is not yet a failure.

FYI...the "global war on terrorism" will be on going for many decades...if not longer...and I personally do not expect "global terrorism" to ever be totally erradicated.

its not a surprise except for the fact they are actually coming out and saying it
