Fucking CAPITAL ONE! Avoid these fucks! (Pic)

Alright, so I called them to cancel a card I got two years ago with some
ridiculous $200 credit limit. I've been calling them last 2 weeks, gave up
after being on hold for about 45 minutes. Today, decided to stay until
they pick up. So far it's been 2hrs, 22min.

ok, so i pickup my other line and call em up this time trying to become a new
customer, the phone is immediately answered. i tell the fucking guy i want to
cancel the piece of shit, he transfers me to the same bullshit line.

alright, so i figure, while i'm on hold , i'll just file a complaint with the BBB
since i noticed a lot of other pissed off customers did the same.

i visit BBB and this is what i see, surprise!
http://www.lezon.com/capitalone.gif

now, try to file a complaint against them, the search engine returns no
results.. hmm. strange ehh? there were over 4k complaints filed against
them last year but strangely when you look up "capitalone", you get nothing
and when you look up "capital one" you get "Capital Stone".

the BBB is as useless as the 800 number i'm on. great way to spend a sat
night.

avoid these fucks.

To be honest, I heard on a financial show to NEVER cancel a card because it hurts your credit score....just cut up the card...if you don't spend anything it won't matter.

Just a heads up

yeah companies that are more concerned with getting new customers than looking after existing ones really suck, it happened to me with the broadband countless times

I never used the card, not once in 2 years, and all the sudden I get a bill
from them with a $5 fee and a $29 late fee and interest. to top it off they
won't cancel or investigate since its only $5, and it's my fault i didn't pay
it in time.

xclusive 01-15-2005 05:01 PM

wow that interesting wonder how they get away with it

Rictor 01-15-2005 05:04 PM

Credit cards are a scam but it's hard to get through life without one. Everyone wants to have your card on file...airports, hotels, etc. even if you pay with cash.

haha the infamous salami attack?
IT has been done in the past by programmers and bank employees, but it's usualy done by taking a cent or a fraction of the cent (by rounding off) from thousands and thousands of peolpe. It can go undetected for years, but I think the banks a well aware of the trick by now ;)

I swear I get 5 applications from them everyweek. I don't need anymore credit cards. I have 2 personal credit cards, 1 store card (Best Buy), and 1 credit card for my corporation.

swoop 01-15-2005 05:41 PM

love the pre approved cards they send for available credit of $20k or around there and you don't get approved.

wait, it says pre-approved...hahaha

abadfish 01-15-2005 05:53 PM

I get like 10 Capital One applications a month and so I finally sent one in and the fuckers never responded to my application the second time... they sent me a letter to tell me to change my address from a PO box to a physical address, which I did over the phone, and then I never heard from them again.

I still get about 10 apps a month though, for business and personal cards.

XpressMedia 01-15-2005 06:19 PM

I've always had good luck with Capital one :)

Illicit 01-15-2005 06:20 PM

I had a hell of a time canceling my capital one card... turns out they dont close the account until there is a month of no activity AFTER you tell them to close it... so charges can still post to your account after you have tried to close the account. took me 2 months to get the freaking thing closed (I forgot about a recurring charge).

Surprise...Surprise...Surprise if you have a recurring bill and cancel the card and they cancel the card, they will still honor the recurring :1orglaugh . hard 2 believe

I thought when you cancel or close an account there couldn't be any more charges on it but wrong.

The BBB = scam. You should tell badbusinessbureau.com about this capital one bullshit.

foolio 01-17-2005 01:14 AM

shit reminds me of AOL lol

FTVGirls 01-17-2005 01:17 AM

I've had my share of these credit card fuckers, even one came back from the grave, and started charging me late fees on their annual membership fees even though I had cancelled. Yes, the long phone call and tedium before it got resolved, if it did.

Just go with a debit card/bank card... it has the visa logo and the same options as a credit card, without the fuckers involved. You just have to have sufficient money in your bank account :)

wargames 01-17-2005 01:18 AM

Never cancel your cards it looks bad on your credit report. Just keep the card and sit on it. I have a capital one card when i was 18 it had a credit card limit of 200 bucks i am 26 now and its still at 200. I tried to get a higher limit once and they denied me lol. I have about 250k in credit cards some as high as 50k but for some reason capital one is anal as a motherfucker. The card is in my drawer collecting dust.

kowntafit 01-17-2005 01:19 AM

I had exactly the same problem with a popular hosting company. Wouldn't answer any calls, emails or tickets, couldn't cancel, they just kept charging the card every month.

jt420 01-17-2005 01:22 AM

that 5 dollar fee is a crock of shit. i hate cards that charge you even if your not using them. cut that fucker up

Thurbs 01-17-2005 01:37 AM

if you tell capital one you want to prepay the card, they usually will up the credit limit 2x the deposit on the second month. I know alot of my frat bros we're doing that. I find them quite reasonable about billpayments, they just don't try very hard to notify you that you may owe them something until you go over your limit. I let it sit for a year, and then i got the bill.
