anyone here produce electronic music?
what software / hardware do you use?
i'm all software. i have a (legit) copy of Reason that is the base of everything. for audio, i use Adobe Audition (rocks) and Cubase SX2 for sequencing. plus a growing library of samples and refills. u have a crappy keyboard i bought at Fry's for like 80 bucks that gives me MIDI control over notes. i'm thinking of getting a hardware controll for reason. maybe the Oxygen? |
garageband for apple baby, lol

ive been producing electronic music for a long ass time now |

i just got a copy of Sonar producers edition. i think a lot of these sequencing platforms have way more power than i need. |
A Reason / Logic combo will give you everything you need.
For the keyboard I have found nothing beats the Korg Micro Control. It controls the programs better than anything else and it's easiest to assign functions with. It's only $299. You will learn the software faster and be more productive by using it along with any other programs. Oh, BTW, if you are using a Mac you are better off using Garageband than Adobe Audition. |

sweet. i bought Reason about 9 months ago, and i've been addicted to it since. before that, i would always create weird scapes with audio editing programs like Cool Edit pro. now i'm trying to integrate those. i understand Cubase supports reWire that will enable Reason to be used as a slave. but i haven't been able to get it work. |
yes, digital performer rocks my socks

I've seen tons of hits produced on just a basic keyboard like a Triton. Nothing extra. Reason is even more powerful. Know your gear. |
i'm in the middle of downloding this:
|
I've always loved the feel of fruity loops, although the sound quality of the finished product was usually less than desired.
I also got myself a triton, which has been basically collecting dust for a few years :( |

reason is one of the most amazing software products ever written. i gladly shelled out the doub to buy it. i may go down to guitar centrer and get the Oxygen controller. my keyboard is cool, but no nozzles. i live this shit. my dream is to make just enough to get a small place by the beach and focus on making music abd reading ans swriting. :sigh: |
i just use impulsetracker :thumbsup
|
my oxygen is collecting dust... i like using two hands : )
Might pick up one of these for control when I get my shit together. http://www.midiman.com/images/global...ion_Pro_88.jpg btw.. anyone else use Orion Platinum? |

so for me. them:
reason for full production using NN-19 samplker to embed sounds. shame there is no full audio support yet. i use Adobe Audition for that. port it all over to cubase and get it done. man i love the electronic music software stuff coming out in the last 4 years |

http://www.synthtopia.com/synth_revi...croKontrol.jpg As I said before, for controlling Reason & Logic's synth plugs you can't beat this. I grew up on the MPC (since '93) so the 16 pressure sensitive keypads on the Korg Micro Control feel right at home and I can assign them to do much more. I can replicate sp1200 sounds easier than ever or go ultra high end clean 24bit if I want. I have to say, Atmosphere & Stylus are really hot. Really really hot. And you guys do know some stuff on Jay Zs Black album was done on Fruity Loops right? :) |
it's from m-audio as well.. only like $600
i just gotta make some room. |

Currently I don't, but I wish I can but I'm learning. |

-edit.. looked too quick.. the pads made me think it was a miniature Fantom..

Naah, the only reason to want to take that much space is if you are a real keys player. I'm not so I stick to the portability and ease of use of the micro control. Nothing beats being able to zip through parameters like you can with the Korg.
Not to mention it travels well. I slip it in a backpack or carry on and it comes with me. For actual keyboard parts there's always the Triton, E4 or old M5 to have someone play on. |
