Does IE understand XHTML?

if I'm correct, yes.

I red some documents from my college course in xhtml and it says that IE doesn't.. however I don't know how fucking old the documents are.. and I can't believe it wouldn't support it, according to the docs mozilla does support but ie doesn't.

can anyone verify which is true?

Firefox shows it correctly, it's correct according to w3c.. yet IE asks if I want to download the page. :1orglaugh
