Sony DCR-VX 2100 anyone using it?
Anyone using this camera, I would appreciate any feedback from users. Thanks
|
It works.
Any more questions? |
Are you happy with the picture quality?
Does the 58mm lens make a noticable difference in low light situations? |

Yes and yes. |
I'm happy with the picture quality, but very disappointed in the focus when you're close to what you'd like to be focusing on. It's pretty decent in low light but not really recommended.

uh....OK. :thumbsup Not really recommended huh? Then why in the hell are the vx2000 and 2100 the most widely used MiniDV cams in our industry? |

It's the best low light video camera that I have ever shot with on a regular basis. I wish Sony's new HD model was rated as well as the 2100 for low light. |
Not that low light situations really concern me much.....
I can't speak for the rest of you but I shoot porn for a living and where I come from, we light our sets. |

Could you hit me up? Thanks. |
I usually use a GL2(Canon) but also have a VX2100 brought it to Vegas did a shoot with no lighting kit. It worked great very crisp definately better in low light. You can't go wrong with either but give yourself time to get used to whichever camera you choose. Also you can't go wrong listening to AaronM.

I use a VX-2100 almost every day to shoot porn and I think that the video quality is great. I like the focus and size too. The stock stereo microphone sucks though compared to my other camera, a Canon XL-1 . It's very non-directional and not that good at picking up sound beyond several feet or so of distance. Also great for low light for docu-style impromptu shoting.

We are using the HDR-FX1 . It's pretty much the same I guess except the HD part . (we are mostly shooting dvds for now, but web will come soon) .

edit : errm nvm ... just read the post after |
We use the PD170 and our old VX2000 which we have used forever. So long as you get the mike off camera they are both excellent at what they do.
You really cant go wrong with Sony. :2 cents: |

They are identical in quality but the pd170 has more options on the outside like xlr inputs.
The pd170 is the pro version of the vx2100 prosumer version. |
great camera...easy to use. Hit me up if you want to see some of the stuff I have shot with it.

We do a lot of club / bar / hotel shooting where lighting is not always available. The 1 lux pick up of the 2100 is amazing. You can open it up and shoot incredible video in almost total darkness. It is an all around great camera for the price. The GL2 has a 20X optical zoom which is nice, but side by side I recommend the VX2100. :thumbsup

If you happen to live near a Macintosh store, they have it on display. Go in and they will let you shoot footage and import / edit on the Macs.
Maybe not what you want, but it is kind of nice to play with something before you buy it. |
It has a good picture quality.
|
Never never with the onboard mic, I love my att shotgun.
|
You better buy the vx2100 fast because it was discontinued months ago and the stock is running out.
I heard the PAL version is sold out in Europe. |
It is an excellent cam... The low light capability is amazing... much better than gl2...
And it's small and portable... I highly recommend the vx2100 Love, Big Tommy - |
