Marianne Dahle turned herself in Wednesday morning to deputies at the Ada County Jail in Boise. She was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery for allegedly tying up a 16-year-old acquaintance and cutting away a 6-by-8-inch section of her scalp.

Dahle allegedly scalped the girl because she believed the teen had slighted her, police said.

The victim has only released her first name -- Sheila -- to news outlets. She said she underwent skin grafts and anticipated another surgery to repair the damage.
