DIRECT-LINK SURFERS

During a Referral's visit to ThumbsMag that originates from your ThumbsMag Link, you get 80% of the outgoing traffic to sponsors' paysites and galleries - 8 out of 10 times a Sponsor Link (to a gallery and/or a paysite) will contain your Sponsor Code and other related information (a sponsors' program, tracking code if supported, etc.)

COOKIE-BASED REPEAT VISITORS

Whenever your Referrals come back to ThumbsMag other than by clicking on your ThumbsMag Link (i.e. type-in, bookmarks), you get 70% of the outgoing traffic. That means that 7 out of 10 times a Sponsor Link will contain your Sponsor Code and information.

How does it work?

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

1. First, you sign up. It takes less than a minute
2. Log in to your new Partner account
3. Enter your Sponsor Code(s) for each sponsor/website that we promote (yes, we are NATS-compatible!)
4. You can even customize most sponsors down to a specific program that they offer (i.e. Per Signup, Recurring, No Consoles), specify a Tracking/Campaign Code if they support such feature, and more!
5. Start sending your traffic using your ThumbsMag Link (i.e. http://www.thumbsmag.com/main.html?Partner-ID)

KEEPING TRACK OF THE SURFERS YOU SEND

The link you use to send your surfers to ThumbsMag contains your ThumbsMag Partner ID. When a surfer comes to the site using this link, your Partner ID is stored in a cookie on their computer. This enables us to keep track of their activity throughout the site even if they decide to leave and come back at a later time. Remember, you get 80% of the outgoing sponsor traffic whenever they visit directly using your ThumbsMag Link (and until they close their browser), and 70% when they come back and we successfully read your information using the cookie we originally saved.

Our Cookies do not expire, but can still be manually deleted by the surfer or overridden by another ThumbsMag Partner should the surfer visit using that Partner's Link. The same rule applies to you - if you happen to send a surfer who already has someone else's Partner ID saved in a cookie, yours will override it and from that moment on, you are his referrer.

COUNTING THE CLICKS...

It is important to understand that we count RAW clicks globally and not per Referral. We maintain two counters per Partner that allow us to apply the 80% and 70% rules. This is the order in which we will determine whose Sponsor Code to use in a Sponsor Link - yours or ours (the cycle repeats itself every 10 raw clicks):

DIRECT-LINK VISIT, YOU GET 80%:

COOKIE-BASED RETURN VISITORS, YOU GET 70%:

When it's your "turn", your Sponsor Code for the specific sponsor gallery/paysite that was clicked will be used. If you did not tell us your Sponsor Code for that particular sponsor - you will lose that click. Therefore, it's important that you let us know as many Codes as possible!

Our Partners Program applies to the entire ThumbsMag site, including the Archive. However, up to 10% of all thumbs pointing to a gallery on each ThumbsMag Volume are PAID SPOTS and are not part of this Program.

We do not skim outgoing gallery traffic. If we have to accomodate link trades in a ThumbsMag Volume, we simply add text-links and banners as necessary. Gallery thumbs will always send the surfer to the actual gallery.

Stats and Performance Reports

Each click to a gallery and/or a paysite is accounted for. Always. This allows us to give you accurate real-time statistics, available to you in your Partner account area. Feel free to compare them to your sponsors' stats. We have absolutely nothing to hide! This is some of what we will tell you:

1. Outgoing clicks to Sponsors' hosted galleries (with hosted galleries, however, we can't track how many visit the paysite afterwards)
2. Visits to custom ThumbsMag Galleries that we host ourselves
3. Outgoing clicks directly to a Paysite from the front page of a Volume and/or a custom ThumbsMag Gallery
4. Incoming traffic information (uniques, page views, hits, geographic location) for your ThumbsMag Link (you can even use different tracking codes to easily analyze where the traffic is coming from!)
5. See how often your referrals visit ThumbsMag
6. See exactly how many referrals of yours BOOKMARKED ThumbsMag through our Bookmark link

We will also let you know as soon as another Partner sends a referral of yours to us and overrides your cookie. This will help you understand what to expect in terms of incoming traffic in the near future.

I send traffic to your site instead of directly to a partner program, then you shave 20% (assuming your honest with the shave) of that traffic to your own partner program id. You get the shave plus you get my traffic for other promotions/advertising for no cost on top.

I'm not arguing that your site doesn't look nice, but wouldn't it be better for you to require webmaster partners to signup "under" your affiliate code for these partner programs then you would take your portion of every signup that is made without skimming the traffic, or are you planning to skim and take the refferal percentage.

Our software actively manages over 50 programs. We pick the content for each Volume and you just push traffic our way. We don't shave 20%. That's not the way you should look at it. This is more of a Revenue Sharing strategy. Just as you don't think of SilverCash shaving you, rather sharing the traffic income potential WITH YOU.

Yes, but not all programs offer that, and frankly, I believe that our work is worth more than 5 or 10%. We provide surfers with quality, and will continue to do so. It's not a TGP that throws 500 text links at the surfer for him to Shift-click thru them. We have plans to release niche-specific ThumbsMags in the next few weeks, and will grow to a premium free porn empire, which will result in quality signups and excellent retention.

ACTUALLY, we want to also share most of our ad revenue. For example, right now we use MensNiche for many of their products. Also, keep in mind that we expect high bookmarking rates from our surfers. They don't get to see such quality premium free porn sites every day. We share 70% of their clicks EVEN A YEAR LATER - as long as they still have kept the Cookie with the Partner's ID. Traffic that you send today can convert a few times, and over a great time period.

As far as making sure we're honest - there are a few things we can do. One is have you take a peak at our code. We really have nothing to hide and can easily arrange for someone to do a fair audit on a regular basis so that you can sleep at night :)

Also, we can even write a simple PHP or Perl utility for you to run as a Crontab that will send clicks to us on an interval of your choice and calculate the outgoing traffic sharing percentage. Real simple, and for all I care, you can run it even every 2 minutes if you want. Again, the last thing we want to do is cheat and will do our best to convince you. If you have any other ideas how that can be accomplished - hit me up :)

2. Signature rules. Maximum 120x60 button and no more than 3 text lines of default size and color.
New as of 1/1/2003: if your sig is for a GFY top banner sponsor, you may use a 468x60 instead of a 120x60. Yes there is a reason this is so big. Also putting your text in a cell and making it look like a button is against the rules. Let me repeat... A 120 x 60 button and no more that 3 lines of DEFAULT SIZE AND COLOR text.

Cookies being required is no good especially since all the new versions of IE are coming with cookies disabled. Plus your policy on my cookie being overwritten by the next website down the line kind of sucks too, I loose because the guy surfs to another site and hits a 404 error? You really should consider a downline type program... I'm not trying to be negative, it just seems like there are a lot of holes in the concept.

Well, this seems fair to me. It's the same thing with a paysite and probably most affiliate programs out there. I might consider giving up some of MY share of the traffic as a second down-line. We'll see, I will announce this when the beta period is over. Thanks :)

As for the cookies, we are working today on also putting the Partner ID as a query string for all page views, so that users with no cookies will be able to bookmark it with the partner still being credited for future visits. This will be a part of the system by tomorrow morning.

A few things I forgot to mention earlier: in order for another Partner's ID to override yours, the surfer MUST visit at least one gallery or site. This prevents Partners from loading our page in an invisible frame or just popping it up and getting future credit even if the surfer closes the browser. Only after a surfer is 'active' will the new Partner ID be set.

I can't really see anything else that can improve this downline concept. Again, it's just like a paysite or even a GFY link that refers a user to a program. So what if you had referred that same person a month ago? The new referrer takes precedence over you, and that's the way it has worked in 98% of the affiliate programs I have come across since 96... both in adult and mainstream.

Keep in mind that WE DO NOT SET OUR COOKIES TO EXPIRE, unlike SOOOO many other programs. Well, a more accurate statement would be that we set them to expire in 24 months :)

xbsimon, your comments gave us a new idea. We have decided to offer partners the ability to choose different programs, one of them being the 80%/70% one. The other will most likely be one where they keep 100%! of the traffic upon their surfers direct-link visit, and then 30 or 40% for return visitors. I had a car accident 2 days after I launched the site and spent 2 weeks in the hospital. I'm all okay, but it did set me back for a while. I'll be re-launching it soon.
