What The Hell Is Google Up To?
|
Nice article fletch, you made a good point about the double standard with Google and Microsoft.
|
that's so awesome. You took the words right out of my mouth. I was just talking about this with a co worker yesterday. When MS does it, everyone is so quick to jump all over "the evil empire", yet the masses of internet users have this love and loyalty to google, who ostensibly is doing the same thing.
Google is trying to become the MS of the internet. The primary difference is, they have little opposition from the masses. MS has always had the "soccer mom" crowd supporting them, and the "geeks" have hated them. It appears google is gaining support from both camps. Scary indeed. Good article man. |
Google is simply a division of Homeland Security

Intresting...whatever they are up to I hope it isn't permanant :(
|
you should add a link to the EPIC googlezon thing
and btw you missed the most important part of the collection system fletch.. Does anyone think its just a strange marketting ploy that gmail made people signup other people ?? Its a way of reading your emails and those whom you correspond to so they can build an information database of your personal life. etc |

Google adds email, a *new* newsgroups, searching through book texts, the purchases you mentioned, the toolbar, etc. etc.
Isn't it vividly clear: They are trying to OWN the Internet! First, they index the entire network and then integrate this database with their shopping engine, email, newsgroups, blogs and eventually they have their fingers in all the information on the 'net. (That is, they have it indexed and/or own it) Then they start putting a price on it. World domination soon follows. :helpme |
you are so right...
for those who were in the gmail early early beta... you could ONLY archive messages... no delete... makes you wonder why hmmm? :D |
i'm convniced they're behind the enrichment of plutonium in iran as well.

When they become more active in their involvement with domain registrations, be prepared to hear the word 'anti-trust' mentioned more often when discussing them.
It took the markplace a while to realize that MS was not as 'nice' as they had originally established themselves. It was the front line industry which had to deal with their nasty tactics long before it was well known by the average consumer. In this case, the SEO guys have been crying foul for a while now and since Dec-17-2004, the volume has been cranked up. This is not the first time, a great little company makes it big and becomes something else (less desireable) - but, it may be the first major SE to do so. -Dino |

Google needs to be severly handicapped before it's too late, as a whole it is becoming Big Brother.
Someone needs to take them down |

What they are up to is growing their biz, pure and simple. Not sure what people expect them to do - put up a search engine and then walk away. |
nice article Fletch :thumbsup

|

wow great article! keep on searching!

If anyone ever wants to start a cult team up with Fletch.
That being said, neither Google nor Microsoft bother me. They both provide useful products that I choose to either use or not use. |
i read somewhere google now has the rights to sell domains and have trade marked a number of names related to webhosting. i cant find the link but i read it on some credible site...
|
I don't have a problem with what Google are doing or might be doing. Then again, i don't have a problem with what Microsoft are doing and have done, either.
