whiskey as aperatif, cognac for digestif.
Each has it's own purpose and neither can replace the other.

you should ask first who here knows the difference between them and who has a money to buy REAL Armenian cognac for example.
99% never ever saw real cognac.
Single malt whiskey is very great , but real cognac much better and x10 times more expensive btw.
