Are you tired of logging into ALLLL of your different sponsors to view stats?

I got an idea from http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...45#post6738545

Should I program something to view stats for all the huge affiliate programs all at once, after you store your login:password info into the app?

Would anyone buy it? I'd probably sell it for $20 bucks a copy

Babaganoosh 03-02-2005 04:45 PM

http://www.statsremote.com

Other options have been and gone many times over.

$29.99 per month (or $84.99 every three months if you choose the 3-Month Subscription)

dude that's a lot of money just to view your stats...

they do have 3,000 sponsor programs withen the software, but i could probably code 50 of the largest ones (adult.com, epiccash, xpays etc etc etc) and sell it for $20 a copy all day

Sosa 03-02-2005 04:48 PM

umm stats remote works just fine, I doubt 1 person would have enough time to make updates and changes for all the programs out there.

I could make one that lets you customize the program yourself ;)

it's fucking simple, i could make a vb app in an 20 minutes that lets you store all your sponsor logins for a quick login with a web browser.. and not charge you out the ass like statsremote does.. i used to make vb apps like this for my old sponsors.. back when wegcash was still j4f

I'll bet not. Especially considering that sponsors change their stats areas constantly. You won't be able to keep up. Statsremote updates VERY regularly. We all know statsremote isn't going anywhere. You won't be here in a month or two.

Besides, $30 a month to check over 65 of my sponsors isn't shit to me. It's money well spent.

wielco 03-02-2005 04:51 PM

Stats remote rocks. I was sceptical about it at first, but once I got it I can't do without it. I'm in Holland right now, checking stats from a friends computer and its a pain in the ass.

Make one that works on a server, with PHP & MySQL, and does not "call home" (to your server), and generates a html report every x hours or on request

See there is you first server-based customer, and I'd buy it as well.

Stats remote is good but something working on a server would be so much better for many reasons

Fatalspeed 03-02-2005 04:54 PM

statsremote is the best out there, it costs some money but it's worth it.

Sure you will, son. Sure you will. I'll be fucking retired in 20 years. :thumbsup

gh0st 03-02-2005 04:55 PM

i'm not really shitting on statsremote.. i just know i could program something just as useful as it and sell it for 5 times less

gh0st 03-02-2005 04:56 PM

all I know is that statsremote charges $300 a year and I'd charge $20 only one time, people like Armed & Hammered are giving me inspiration to give StatsRemote the competition they've been dreading

I think if you put something together and posted a link to a demo of it you'd get some better responses. Especially if you added some nice touches to it and made it super-easy to use and set up.

:2 cents:

I already have that. It's called "favorites" in Internet Explorer, or Bookmarks in Firefox..

Have you ever even used StatsRemote?

The entire point is: you don't have to log in and check stats.

nastyking 03-02-2005 06:07 PM

what a tool ...

skillfull 03-02-2005 06:14 PM

maybe a better idea is to make something like checkyourstat.com on your server

you log in, with a nice menu you can add the sponsor you want
and see global stats and everything

that uber easy and you have one major advantage that Stats Remote doesnt have

you can use it on every computer

charge 10$/month i will be the first so sign-up if you add my sponsors ;)

you can use stats remote for that. stats remote has an auto export function. it's easy to write a web interface for that (if it's not easy for you, contact me and i can share our code - 129393)

:thumbsup

i dont use stats remote cause i stink mainly to 4-5 sponsors at the same time usually

so his only solution is to make best for less :)

The whole idea is crazy, and I don't understand why StatsRemote is as popular as it is.

Think about it. Is there *anyone* in the world who would benefit from knowing everything about your monthly adult webmaster income? A tax man, an ex-wife, a creditor, a competitor, anyone?

Stats Remote and similar programs put all your privacy eggs in one basket, and then wraps it up in a nice neat ribbon. Now all it takes to breach your privacy is one poorly-kept password or one subpoena.

For the truly paranoid, think about this. If you were a tax agent in one of the countries that taxes income, wouldn't setting up a service like this be a most excellent sting operation? People pay *you* for the privilege of giving you access to true income stats to compare against their annual income reports. Sweet. How well do you know the owners of Stats Remote? And even if you've drank beer with them, can you be *sure* they haven't been pressured or induced into installing a reporting module on their back-end database? Or hired, all unwitting, a programmer who was working a second job for a snoop agency?

I'm not paranoid enough to think this has happened, but I'm cautious enough to be aware that it *could* happen. No thanks, I'll check my stats by hand. Not because I have anything to hide, but because my stats are nobody else's fucking business.

I shake my head every time I see the words "Stats Remote." Jeeze.

Thanks for the good words guys :thumbsup

gh0st... good luck :)

Quote from our privacy policy:
---
When using our software your personal login details and numbers of the supported affiliate programs and pay per click search engines are stored encrypted on your hard drive. We do not have access to your personal login details and numbers at any time. Before StatsRemote checks your stats the software will connect to our server in order to check whether you are authorized to use the software. No information except the StatsRemote username and password is sent to our server at any time.
---
You can verify this with a network monitor to check what data is actually sent where. Many people actually did this and confirmed that nothing else is sent.

Also, do you think we would risk losing a very nice recurring member base just to have a look at your stats?

Oops, my bad -- I had a fundamental misconception about how the Stats Remote software works. Very sorry guys.

I wouldnt trust a guy who thinks that $30 x 12 = $300

I wouldn't trust a guy who doesn't read up on what he's posting about

I like the old fashioned way of being surprised when a sponsor check comes in the mail. It takes all the fun out of shit if you know when EVERY check is coming and how much it is. As long as I know they'll keep coming, I'm cool.

chodadog 03-03-2005 10:04 AM

Anyone who actually gets any benefit from statsremote is not going to give a shit about saving 30 dollars a month to buy an inferior program. You may sell a few copies of this program, but it will never amount to shit.

He's the fourth loudmouth in the last 3 years that announced to release a StatsRemote alternative. Please don't give him too much info, it's much more fun to see them fail :winkwink:
