Do ugly, amateur looking sites convert?
 

I'm debating hiring a designer, or doing a site layout myself for a paysite.
I do it myself then it be the ugliest pay site on the planet. but would that sell?

sometimes an amateur site sells great if it looks like an amateur did it. It all depends on your traffic sources though.

well, if its a solo site it can. People think the girl did it and dont care as much. If its anything else it just makes it look like another bs site. Just my opinion though.

I've had more luck with plain looking run-of-the-mill girls on Amateur sites than I ever have with knock out babes. :2 cents:

some of the most successful paysites have been plain and simple.

look at cumfiesta.com or even their new site, whatever it's called... simple does sell.

Ugly is better for amateur.

I had a couple of designers do my site but they just didn't convert, so I had a crack at it myself and lo and behold the signups started rolling in.. Check it out. www.cheatingxxxwife.com :winkwink:

thats actually really nice compared to what I can do. I cant even do that splicing images then refitting them back into table cells trick.

I had to get someone to slice them for me as I had no idea either how to do it. Your content also is real amateur and your tour highlights that and would convert better than a slick design job. :thumbsup

That was one of the problems when we did www.cutiescash.com. It was impossible to hire a designer cuase all they wanted to do was show off and use as many fonts and colors as possible.

We had to underdesign to get the right feel of real amateurs. The sites are basic and done to look basic. They sell like crazy and it shows that you do not need some crazy designs !

Good question ClickHappy...my husband and I build our own websites and do very well with sign ups producing at least ten per day. We also build all the camcutie girls websites together and they do well also depending on how much effort they put in to the marketing we teach them. It has been our experience that the more amateur looking style does the best having tried marketing both pro and amateur type websites. Yep. Most people prefer girls that they consider to be attainable by them.

Perfect 10's don't do it for most but they can relate to a 5, 6, or 7 any day of the week.

Quiet's content is anything but amateur though.

There's a real art to making a GOOD ugly paysite, and if you do it right it will convert like crazy... :pimp

Having two tours is best. A ugly one and a nice one. So webmasters can choose which one best fits their traffic

Our site has a pretty "ugly" tour and converts pretty darn swell...

take a look at the Homegrown Video tour. Selling amateur, whether for a single girl site or a megasite like ATK of Homegrown Video, is all about the reality/honesty/straightforwardness of the pitch.. "what you see is what you get" so whether it is slickly done or very sloppy it not as important as that, imo.

A good adult designer would make an amateur-looking website that would convert better. I would rather make 10 designs and test all of them.

when it comes to amateur sites, its not the design that sells, its the model.
If you have cookie cutter looking site, then you will not sel las good, if its unique, shows personality, good looking girl, then the site can be pretty bad and still get sells.
