divx and other video formats
We currently using rm for movie data, its stood us well the past 3 years. But now looking for something better. WMV is to rigid and not real a solution.
We then got MPEG4 but means higher file sizes (some of our movies are 25 mins plus long) I also looked at DIVX which is a great format but from what I gather we would have to apply for a licence to use it commercially. Anyone currentently using DIVX ? Or what formats for long play downloadable movies would you recommend other than real. Imput appreciated thanks :helpme |
consider using xvid.
www.xvid.org DivX is proprietary software, with an opaque development cycle that follows only a commercial logic. XviD is Free Software (licensed under the GNU GPL), open to third-party contributions and aims for standard's compliance, portability and interoperability, high processing speed and superior quality. |
