Photoshop gurus - need some help!

I have searched google for info, but can't find anything.

How can I take a logo, and overlay it transparent over an image so all you can see is the logo, and not the background it was created on?

This is driving me nuts. I am sure it has something to do with masks, but I can't find any specific information on how to watermark images this way.

Thanks! :thumbsup

yes, you are correct - sort of.

Wow alex that was a bunch of help.

I know that it can be done, but I am not sure how. But this bump will help keep you up top

Not A Guru...

I'm not a PhotoShop Guru by any means, but I believe all you need to do is select "Transparent" (instead of White or Background) when creating the logo image. Then when you add it to your picture only the logo should show (not the background of the logo).

In my case, I simply type my copyright and copy it, then paste and place it on each image so that it doesn't interfere with the picture much:

Hope this helps...

Good luck,

I think I know what you mean, but not clear.

You have some sort of image (with a background) you are trying to lift off, and use on something else?? Or are you just trying to place a watermark on something?

Either one's easy enough. If you could provide some more detail, I can try and help ye.

Just put the logo in it's own layer, and either delete or hide the background.

cut the logo out of the original and drag it over a new transparent one

FredIsMe 03-06-2005 02:08 PM

Yea im not to sure what you mean either. Do you mean takes a logo, selecting it, and then bringing that selection over to the "background" and inverting that selection and deleting the extra background so all you're left with is the the logo of the background?

no no no, this is what you do...

1) open new photoshop document, select "transperant" for your background

2) type & format your watermark

3) save the file, as a ".png" file

4) a png will let u drag & drop on top of a jpeg and not bring with it any aritfacts

I have seen video clips where a fancy logo is on the video, and I am pretty sure it is done with a transparent .png or something like that.

But I want to do that on images in photoshop. Make a .png with a nice logo on it, and overlay the .png file over the image so it is transparent. I want it so the logo can be put on any image size, and I don't have to resize the .png.

I have an image editing program that has "masks" that are just .png files, and you could use them on a 200x200 picture or an 800x600 picture and the masks always scale to the image so you don't have to resize them.

I am going to create an action in Photoshop.
rotate - adjust contrast - sharpen - overlay the watermark (.png) - add border and have 1000's of images I have to do this to. Just need to figure out that watermark thing with a .png. :(

Lots of images, but I have the time to do it or I would use a program to batch them all. They are for tgp's, paysite, free sites etc.

I have seen some pictures from sponsors with logos on them, as opposed to just plain text watermarks, and that is what I am trying to achieve. I want to make one logo, and use it on pictures and video without having to make tons of different sizes.

fulcrumstudio 03-06-2005 02:35 PM

Lots of variables like: original logo is raster or vector, photos are index color or rgb, logo size if raster....etc. hit me on icq will help ya out (been getting bounced a ton so should be around to hook ya up) Video is simple to do as well.

This is what you are looking to do i think...like this pic we did of aimee
