The Federal Reserve chairman, Alan Greenspan, has said that the U.S. tax system should be simplified, perhaps with some kind of national consumption tax, to encourage economic growth and personal savings.

It will never happen, too many accountants would be out of work. I assume they have a pretty big lobby.

Won't happen, economy will go inot toilet. Anyone proposing a 30% sales tax will not get re-elected.

all it would do is create a black market for "untaxed" goods and it would hurt the poor more.

But since I"m not poor....... **knock on wood**
