Just another brick in the wall...
Permanent record? A first-grader marked for life because his mother wouldn't abuse him in front of the school adminstration? Too weird...
If you were rewarded as a student for your parents beating you, I would have graduated Magna Cum Laude by about the third grade. Good thing that all teachers and school adminstrators are model citizens... http://buy.overstock.com/images/prod...0312970129.jpg Quote:

Just when I think we've evolved, I am proven wrong. Idiots.
I am 100% against spanking. |
I was in Jr. high in the mid 70s when corporal punishment was still allowed in public schools. They used to have one of the coaches administer any paddlings. One was this psycho freak who got all into it and custom made paddles out of boards and drilled holes in them so he could hit harder. He would make a student bend over and grab their ankles then swing with both hands like he was playing baseball. 3-5 licks was the minimum, but 10 was not uncommon. Saw him knock someone down from hitting so hard on more than one occasion...

plenty of kids need the shit beat out of them, for example:
http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=440866 so get over yourselves and beat your kids, its for their own good. |

I was in the second grade (North West Arkansas) maybe 7 years old... I got sent to the office for throwing away my already graded homework. Principal gave me option of getting smacked with a paddle or loosing recess. I lost the recess and my friend took the paddle. Still makes me ill thinking of sitting there watching this kid get beat... If I saw that principal now, I would prolly sweep the leg Johnny. |
Where I grew up, if you needing a spanking while at school, you got it, and then you had the opportunity to call home to tell your parents about it.
There were a few kids who "weren't allowed" to have them per parental dictate, and those were the kids who spent the day in the office on the couch in front of the principal's desk for three full days. If you deserved it, you got it. I was spanked once when I didn't deserve it, and oh god, Mema about had a fucking fit. She called the superintendant of schools for the county, relayed the happening to him, and dragged him to my school where she met with him and the principal, who then called me out of class along with the teacher. First thing my grandmother said, "How in the world do you get away with whipping a child for READING?!" Teacher: "She wasn't doing her classwork, and it was disruptive to the rest of the class." Mema (livid): "Reading is disruptive? Did she have all of her work done, or did you bother to ask?" Teacher (looking uncomfortable): "We have designated work times..." Mema: "You touch a hair on her head again and I'll see you in court. You should be glad she's reading instead of being really disruptive." Teacher: "Well I just don't know how to handle a gifted child." Mema: "You get up off your butt and give her something to do! Teach instead of sitting behind your desk!" Needless to say, I was not the pet of the school after that. Everyone was afraid of pissing Mema off. But it did help: They now have classes for gifted kids, where reading is not a capital offense. :) Thanks Mema! |
I don't necessarily agree with a government institution being able to paddle your child.
However if the kid was truly disruptive then the parent involved should be more than happy to punish their child appropriately...and yes sometimes that does mean swatting them on their asses. There is a problem today with kids, and part of it is because of pussy assed 60's hippy thinking. For some kids "time outs" just do not work. The thing is you don't have to spank them every single time. I feel if a parent would use different types of punishments more selectively they would be more effective. Let me give you an example. My sister used to do that counting bullshit with my nieces. "Okay I'm going to give you to 3 and if you don't stop touching that you're in trouble." What does the kid do? Just ask any parent or guardian. The kid will sit there and look at you and continue touching the object or doing whatever they are not supposed to be doing right up until you just about say 3 and then stop and run away. Here is what I started doing with my nieces...and yes I did punish them because they have lived with me on and off now for over 11 years. The youngest who is now 13 has known no other real male figure in her life other than me. Anyway I would tell them I will count but they will never know the number I'm counting to. One day I might count to 3 the next only to 2 some days no counting at all. This kept them on their toes they never knew what was going to happen and when so no pushing the limits. My oldest niece who was about 8 years old at the time used to love standing right in front of the t.v. blocking everyone's view this happened daily numerous times a night and she would jsut ignore my sister. My sister would do that stupid ass counting bullshit. She said..."1." And right then I just walked up and swatted her butt. Not real hard...but it surprised the shit out of her and she dropped to the ground in a sitting position so damn quick. We never had that problem again. Once again I do not advocate spanking your child at all times. What I am saying is use a variety of techniques and at different times in order to teach your child not to push those boundaries..because you never know when it will backfire on you. Some days it may be a swat. Another day if they are ignoring you while playign with a special toy..then that toy goes up for the day..or if you have trouble getting them dressed in the mornings because they are too busy watching t.v. TURN THE FUCKING T.V. OFF. People now days just don't understand consequences..and it's the parent's fault. |
