PDA / Handheld PC Advice: In the U.S.
I'm looking for something I can use to keep a constant connection to aim & icq. I have a phone through nextel right now although I'd be willing to get another mobile account specificly for this.
So yeah, just something to keep a constant online connection with aim & icq. Any advice on providers & devices? |

Anyone? |
Get an XDA http://www.my-xda.com/help6_xda.html
Q6 Does the xda support the ICQ? A6 Yes, ICQ for Pocket PC Ver 1.0 Beta can be downloaded from http://www.icq.com/download/ftp-pocketpc.html. |
Get the PPC-6600 Smart Devict - avail. thru SprintPCS or Verizon.

i want one of those, too expensive atm

Does your cell phone support bluetooth? If not i recommend getting a Cingular or T-mobile cell phone that supports bluetooth. You will then be able to access from the PDA wirelessly connecting to the cell phone.

Thanks for the bumps!
Well I went and did some first-hand research of my own. Looks like cingular has the treo 600 $200 & treo 650$300 (both very nice pda's). & has plans for as little as 49.99 unlimited access no voice. Which would allow me to be connected to the net 24/7 and not need a voice plan (which most other providers do). Anyway, I'm not done researching but this combo looks like the best options. If anyone has other opinions drop em in here! |

But it works great...Lots lots of fun programs...hit me up when you get it...I'll hook ya up Jon |

Nextel really sucks balls.
They claim to be biz all the way ... but I see other companies way ahead of them. I currently have an i860 and the service is not all that, for what i'm paying. |
I love nextel. Almost everyone I know owns one & between us all the 2-way is an unbeatable service.
This thread isn't about nextel's regular service though (or any companies regualr service). It's about pda's and mobile internet providers. |
Get a Blackberry. You can connect to MSN / ICQ / Yahoo / whatever, send and receive e-mail, connect to the internet, telenet or ssh, etc. They're great.
|
I've looked into the blackberrys. They don't have nearly as many options as most of the other pda's do.
