Combus Thumbs = sucking for me

Guys, Combus Thumbs, for whatever reason or another is sucking bad for me.. My pics aren't rotating, I have duplicates next to oneanother, etc... Anyhow...

What else is there?

ThumbManager?
Something called AutoGallery??

What else, what would you recommend? I don't want to pay a fortuune.

BastarD 04-06-2005 03:12 PM

Comus Thumbs works great if you know how to work with it.

Well I don't like comus either, anyway the problems you describe are not comus related, but more how you configured/installed it.

Try their support to fix this issue. Other good thumb scripts are Smartthumbs, and thumbmanager(comes with trade script)

Comus is good... but so is AGS

beta-tester 04-06-2005 03:36 PM

You have to customize it. Also there an official ct board where you can ask whatever you want, and you'll get help.

Comus is for smart people.

stereolab 04-06-2005 09:17 PM

how many approved galleries do you have in your database? what template are you running?

comus has a pretty steep learning curve, but it's worth it in the end.

koreanbbque 04-06-2005 10:17 PM

i personally prefer AutoGallerySQL but i've only heard good things about comus thumbs.

I'm sure instead of dumping all the work that you've done, try to find someone to help you.

http://www.jmbsoft.com if you're really set on changing.

Smart Thumbs

r3ap3r 04-06-2005 10:57 PM

You need more approved galleries. Also, if you are using singular macros try not to make any of the macros identical to eachother. Basically, approve more galleries and use plural macros as much as you can.

Comus is for ppl who can spell it correctly.

I can't help wondering why someone who really wants to solve a problem with a script would come straight to GFY before trying the script's own support forum, but there you go... and none of these scripts work magic. If you don't have enough galleries, of course you are going to see repeats (or empty spaces).

You aren't going to get very far with any of these scripts if you don't take a little time to learn how they work. But if you want cheap and as easy as it gets, try jmbsoft.com: they have AGP if you want to take submissions and a Rotator script if you work with hosted galleries. Both scripts are under $100.

I found you get that problem alot in the beginning, another tip is you go into view mode choose edit, you can click on the thumbs and replace, rethumb etc etc.

I think when noone clicks on any thumb it really doesnt toss it out into day olds... not really sure on that, but in the beginning was same problem, now much better
