Pocket PC Fanatics Get Your Asses In Here!
thanks for joining me :thumbsup
So I just got my Qtek S100... recommend me what software I should install! I've already downloaded BetaPlayer along with DVDDecrypter and PocketDivx Encoder to get my DVD's on the small screen. AvantGo has been downloaded too (looks like a useful app). I'm looking at SPB Plus but I'm not sure if it's the best in its class. Also I just ordered an Exim screenprotector... been told that it's the best, anyone have experience with it? Oh and I'm looking for a good cleaning set... think Klear screen is the way to go? Thanks for your attention... and any advice that may come :upsidedow |

I put one of those screen protectors on my Toshiba but didn't like it and took it off. They get little air bubbles some time and the screen isn't as clear.
Software to get: KeepTrak List Pro PhatNotes I'd list a few more nice apps but my PDA is at the office. Lots of links on this site: http://pocketpcmag.com/ |
Also Resco File Explorer is great.

Thanks KRL!
Got SPB Pocket Plus + SPB GPRS installed, also Sprite Backup, BetaPlayer and a few games. Gonna look for some more worthwhile software! |

Can you squeeze a DVD into the 128 MB there is on those things and still get a pleasant viewing experience from it ? |

first of all my device only has 64MB so that would never in a million years work! BUT! Did you ever hear of the wonderful world of memory cards? Most devices nowadays come with an expansion slot (so does mine) and i.e. SD cards can go upto 1GB nowadays. One DVD movie boils down to anywhere between 250 and 500 MB. So yeh it's very easy doable and it's enjoyable too! |

Did you actually test out viewing a DVD on one of these things ? I'm pendling between Denmark and Spain and was thinking of buying a portable DVD player, but if I can kill two birds with one stone and get a PDA and an acceptable portable DVD player in one toy then it would be great. |

The episodes I have watched are pretty good on PDA, it might be worth considering buying a full PDA though instead of a phone/PDA hybrid if you do not need the phone functions. Full PDA's have larger screens and some work on a better resolution. |

advice? get a palmOS-based machine before you find yourself staring into the dreaded "orange screen of death" on your PocketPC when it locks up..
|
I have owned pocket pcs for years and have never got an orange screen of death. Palm is fucking horrible, pocket pc is much better.
anyways, here is some good software www.orb.com - the ability to turn your pocket pc into a tivo - stream and record live CABLE, DIGITAL CABLE, or SATELITE. You can also stream music, movies and photos from your pc. it's awesome and free. spb pocket plus - gives you a great amount of options and changes yuour today screen, plus a wealth of other goodies, too much to mention journalbar - auto-updating specialized news headlines on your today screen, also has weather, sports scores, etc. great games: snails arvale (rpg) age of empires (rts) gilbert goodmate |
