What do you guys think about my english newspaper feature story?

It's for my english college school newspaper. what do you guys think?

Varying from clubs to weddings, workplaces and libraries, or perhaps being introduced by your friends or members of your family, guys and girls seem to always find new and more convenient ways of meeting new people.

The most recent meeting location for many people around the world today happens to be that of the internet. With its chat rooms, instant messaging programs, and even websites established for this very purposes, it has given birth to what we call today ?Internet Dating?.

With approximate 50 million current internet profiles created, including many teenagers, and a business that profits over $400 million a year in the United States alone, it goes without saying that this new method of dating has shown its significance in today?s world.

To take this idea even further, we can even find websites who have for sole purposes to arrange sexual encounters between its members, whether it?s one-night-stands, phonesex, cybersex, or even meeting up with swinging couples. This concept, as profitable as it is, is also deemed immoral and under attack by moral groups all across the world.

So why do people seem to be so attracted to Internet Dating? Here are a few good reasons:
- Internet dating permits some sort of chemistry to be created before the first actual date
- Huge variety of people to speak to (in big cities), thus making it easier to find someone who appeals to you, and who lives close enough to you.
- Rejection is far less messy and harmful when it?s done online.
- Conversations online seem to be much more honest, with less emotion involved, therefore permitting a certain level of detachment before actually meeting the person.
- The new world of traveling to another country in order to meet someone you met online, thus making it a new experience for the person.

A lot of people are skeptical whether or not Internet Dating actually ?works?, and it is very interesting to see the statistics on encounters that were results of internet dating (as reported on CBC):
- 63% of internet daters had sex with at least one person they met online
- 60% formed at least one long-term friendship
- 27% percent met at least one person they regarded as a ?partner?
- 3% met someone they eventually married

With all this being said, one can draw his/her own conclusions about internet dating. The bottom line is that in every form of dating, whether it?s phone dating, speed dating, internet dating or, heck, even normal dating, there will always be those who are happy and those who are not with the outcome of their experience.

"happens to be that of the internet"

:)

Shorten it up man, drop the overly creative one-liners,....unless its in the form of comedy....

- 63% of internet daters had sex with at least one person they met online

good statistics though.....i'd guess more like 75% though....because people won't admit to something during a phone polling, which most places use..& never admit to it during a personal poll on the street

Glad to see you edited the title of your post from newpaper to newspaper.

Your essay reminded me about why I decided to not go into teaching.

So, do you like torturing professors, or are you just not bright enough to figure out that you're not college material?

Just kidding. Take heart...since most colleges are little more than diploma mills, I'm sure you will do well and graduate.
