Why people won't use the "n" word but...
Will have no qualms about using the term "Jap" when describing a Japanese person.
I have many Japanese friends and I'm even in a relationship with one. I know for a fact that many see the term "Jap" as being derogatory. Ironically, many that will use that term will never use the "n" word. So is the term used out of ignorance or to express true despise? Discuss |
I prefer the term Charly...seldom used and not as derogatory as nip, rice ball etc

Why is a Japanese acrobatic troup like an Autumn day?
|
Japs are too short to do anything about it.

The same reason you found it okay to use "jap" but not the n-word in your post?

i hear more "n" than i do "j".
then again, i listen to a lot of rap.... |
Dude your asking a question to incite people for posts. Everyone has their own unique way of dealing with the race question. And put on a different show in different towns and around different people.
Thats the deal, it'll always be the deal. Who cares |
I just call them Japanese like they are.
What gets me tho, is why blacks can call us crackers, white bread, whity, etc etc but if we call them a niger, negro, nigga etc etc they get all upidity and in your face. Double standard if you ask me. |

Jap is short for Japanese, and that's where it ends for me.

I say no all the time

why....why? |
The difference is you'll get your ass kicked by a black guy if you call him a NIGG... you'll just get a funny look if you call a japanese person a Jap. (I prefer the later)

what are you talking about "people won't use the 'n' word?" i hear it used almost everyday. i'm getting pretty numb to it now.

Personally, I find it best to use something less offensive.
I was driving around in LA one day and I saw a mexican driving a low rider with a bumper sticker that said "Brown Pride", later in that same trip, I saw a riced out Honda with a vietnamese guy driving it that also had the same bumper sticker. Having seen this, I derived that they are both proud to be of brown skin tone. That in mind, instead of trying to deduce the nationality of a brown person, I refer to them all as Brownies. Japanese=Brownie, Mexican=Brownie, Panamanian=Brownie, Korean=Brownie, Eskimo=Brownie. I mean think of it, everyone lumps white people together when they see a white guy. So I think it's fair. |

They may act cool with it, but one day you're going to say it in front of the wrong person. Why say the word at all? There's just no reason if you're not racist, and you're not black. |
