Get this: Cookie Monster is no longer allowed to sing his "C is for Cookie" song on Sesame Street anymore. The words have been changed to something along the lines of "Cookie is a sometimes food...blah blah blah!!!"

What a load of lame ass BULLSHIT!!!

Cookie Monster was my favorite character when I was kid and I knew that a cookie was just a treat because my PARENTS raised me to understand and respect that!

I guess they're gonna make him a sometimes monster too.

Just another thing on the long list of things that kids these days won't enjoy. Whatever happened to common sense and taking time to be a parent?

I loved the cookie song. I loved learning to ride a bicycle on a 20inch with a banana seat and no brakes without a helmet. I learned to not eat pennies, pull the cat's tail, slam the door, and to stay off the kitchen counters by doing them all and learning the consequences. And when I misbehaved, I didn't get a time out. Instead, my daddy took time out of his busy schedule to whip my butt.

Why are we, (generally speaking, please don't try to kill me), taking all of the childhood out of childhood? I always thought that in order to grow and learn, one had to understand the whole "cause and effect" principle. If we can't let kids make mistakes or get hurt, how the hell wre they going to learn?!

what else are they going to try and politically correct?

Tala,

That isn't just sad....that's sacreligious!! Jim Henson's gotta be rolling in his grave. Today the expectation of kids is that they think and reason like adults -- and when that doesn't work they get labelled 'problem' kids :(

Screaming 04-14-2005 10:14 AM

i know i heard that somewhere, sad isnt that parents dont teach there kids anymore, well alot of parents dont so the kids that are taught how to act will have things taken from them and spend lots of time waiting for the other kids to learn, in school especially

I hate political correctness. :Oh crap <sarcasm> Overanalyze everything... yay! It sure is making the world a better place!!!! </sarcasm>

Welcome to our society of no responsability. Parents don't take responsability for their kids anymore. More and more I see parents thinking that their kids can do no wrong. Schools don't have the ability to take action against kids anymore. I remember when I was a kid my dad use to walk me to school the first day each year and tell the teacher "He does something wrong you have my permission to whip his little ass, and I want to know about it. Cause after you get to him he gets to come home and deal with me."

Sure I still got in trouble. As kids testing the boundries and then having someone pull you back to reality is important. Our society is filled with whiners and giant babies cause they never had to deal with it growing up. So now as adults they get to learn the lessons they should have learned as children. SAD!
