Diabetes, don't let it get ya!

http://depts.washington.edu/jacds/primerframe.html

That's an older article comparing diabetes rates in Japan to the U.S.

Yes, we Yanks are too fat and too lazy and our nutritional regimens are idiotic.

There's more newer data at Harvard's website.

Don't let this shit catch up to you as you get older.

Get rid of the fat, eat smart.

DB sucks, some guy I worked with years ago at a dot bomb company had some sort of "shock" or something and he got super violent. He pushed his monitor off his desk, stormed out of the office, punched the call elevator button so hard his fist exploded in blood, and left for a week.

Apparently that's not normal for most diabetics, but he looked fxcked. He was sweaty, eyes glazed over, and pale as a corpse.

Sorry dude! Wasn't aware of the severity of the problem til recently.

Us old time webmasters remember about 8 years ago a rash of heart attacks all of a sudden as guys were sitting on their asses all day. We all teamed up then and helped each other out.

Now it's the Diabetes thing. Eating right, exercising and seeing your doctor regularly.

I'm getting confusing information that Type 2 Diabetes is cureable with diet and exercise. Reversable! But I want proof and I'm lucky I have several of the world's top nutritionalists and doctor's as friends and I'm asking them what the truth is once and for all.

If you're truly type 2, you can control with diet and exercise. I was diagnosed in 2001 and I've been working on my diet ever since. I've had some luck and some problems.

Basically now I try to eat as many natural foods (read: not processed) as I can. Fruit, veggies, whole ingredients, whole grains, stay away from starches, white breads, white rice, sugar, sodas, juices, etc. So far my A1C has been under the "diabetic" level (under 7.0) with just diet for the last 2 years. My last A1C was a 5.9 which is "non-diabetic" but I had to work really hard to get there. I hope to lose more weight this year and make it easier for me to sneak in a splurge now and then. :)

Diet and exercise, that is what I am trying as well , some days with more success than others :2 cents:

Worst part is, 2 out of 3 diabetics die from stroke or heart attack. It's frightening, but managable. Thousands, if not millions live with it everyday. It's bad but you can control it through diet and exercise. It's basically a wake up call to do what we should do from the beginning.
