I?m not too much of a programmer and I know nobody has to support this script. I'm just asking if anybody would help.

I really like this script and it's noble for stb to share it. I noticed the exit pops when the links are click and not when the window is actually closed. Is there a way to change it? Also is there a way to make the windows pop under not over? Again just asking. Thanks

I guess it depends on the browser .. what are you using ? it pops a new window when the window is closed for me you can either target new links to a blank window or use an exit with the script on the links so they dont pop it..

As far as the popunder , its best to target that on the window that popsup..

Like in the window that popsup just add this to the body tag onload="self.blur();"

SmokeyTheBear 08-11-2005 11:51 PM

Its really handy when your doing shit like this is to build framed containers so you can add stuff to the windows instead of sending a popup straight to a sponsor..

Like in the popup window make an iframe , in the iframe put a framebuster script that busts out of the frame and into your sponsor, this way you can add attributes to the popup , that you normally can't control ( due to you not being able to add things to the sponsors page , like the self.blur. )

SmokeyTheBear 08-11-2005 11:59 PM

here's an example.

The popup goes to realitycash , but the page popsunder

Hey Smokey - I'm using IE6. I was trying different thinks to make it work like I would like and I found that without the google toolbar the exit works fine. With the toolbar even with the blocker off it doesn't. I also tried this script with the anchor tag onClick="exit=false" but that didn't not pop the exit. Sorry to be so picky I just didn't know if there was an easy to make it work like I would like. I'll screw with it some more and see what I can do. Thanks for replying.

Would you share that framebuster code to do that with me?

well in that case i didnt use a frame i just used a refresh kind of.

< img src=c:\willnotexist.gif onerror="self.blur;window.open('http://www.sponsor.com','_top')" >

SmokeyTheBear 08-12-2005 01:41 AM

or you could do <body onbeforeload="self.blur();" onload="window.open('http://sponsor.com','_top')">

you can either use onclick="leave=false" on every link or you can use

<base onclick="leave=false"> in the head to make every link "not" throw the exit popup without having to edit every link..

Does your code rely only on link clicking events to trigger it? I tired it but it is poping every time someone clicks their browsers back button while at my site. I want it to pop only when someone closes the browser window and if possible when they click the browsers back button and it goes to a different site. Is this possible?

PSD 02-26-2006 07:22 PM

BTW, I should mention I added <base onclick="leave=false"> as you suggest above and that does prevent it from poping when links are clicked. So I just need it to stop poping each time the browsers back button is clicked while at my site. Is there a way to tell when a user has truely closed their browser window?
