GFY & THEE: What KIND of Love? (confessions)
 

This site probably has the highest user retention and loyalty of any site I've ever encountered -- and that includes mainstream and adult, both ad rev. and mem. fee.

I think anybody who comes back to GFY for a second visit, whatever expectations or ideas they may have had when they first came, is entering into a long-term relationship with the site, in the SOME FORM or other, whether they realize it at the time or not.

I was pissed at myself earlier today for feeling too distracted from my work by GFY. But now I'm feeling a little bit better about it.

Here's my answer to the above question (which I thought too personal to include among the basic choices): GFY offers me what has become an essential manner of communication and expression -- the outlet, the language have become a part of me. Blame: a fanatical obsession with the medium and an intense curiosity about the "places" we create online and the "people" we become in them.

GFY has three uses for me:

1) When I'm bored, I click on any thread that sounds interesting. Like today, it's saturday afternoon and I just woke up, so I'm browsing and replying to any threads that seem interesting, like this one.

2) Business. Now that the quick search is back and working, it's great to find any threads about iwantu, dating, or our competitors and read those. Also, when we have our own site news or announcements, we post it here first before even our own sites news/forum, because the fact is most of our affiliates can be found on GFY at any single moment.

3) Feedback. Whether it's asking for people's thoughts on a products, movie, technology...you will likely get atleast a few replies here, and quickly.
